Really fun!! But I thought for SURE your #1 was going to be HTGAWM: “Why is your penis on that dead girl’s phone?”

    • Angela says:

      Ha! Good call.
Loved the John Oliver and Jon Stewart quotes-especially Stewart’s, given what he was talking about. Amen. And yay for “Criminal Minds” getting some attention, too.
And LOL at Ichabod Crane ranting about skinny jeans. Ah, you gotta love him. Some very entertaining lines in this list, very fun read. May 2015 bring us many more wonderful one-liners.

    Needs some DiNozzo

I’m going to miss Shay on Chicago Fire. I’m still sad that Almost Human was cancelled. That Joan Rivers quote was hilarious!!! RIP

  4. arial2 says:

What, only one Blacklist quote? You could do a whole gallery of Red quotes and every one of them would be memorable. Thanks for giving us a Suburgatory quote; still miss that show.

On Black-ish, Dre’s ‘Hand-to-gland combat’ when he came upon his son masturbating was comedy gold. Or the ‘not counting 400 years of non-consensual gardening’ comment he made when Rainbow observed that ‘you don’t see that very often’ while looking at picture of black teenagers gardening. Too bad you guys don’t watch this show. I guess it isn’t one of the cool kids.

  6. Liz says:

    The best quote:
“Where’d you learn to kiss like that?”
    “I said I was a virgin, not a monk.”
Great Scot! Claire (Caitriona Balfe) is lovin’ Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) lips

  7. Joey says:

The sad thing about the Sue Sylvester quote is that Glee inserts meta commentary like that all the time, usually from Sue, to highlight what is wrong with their show, yet they continue to exhibit the same bad writing week-in, week-out.

  8. The greatest television quote of the year was not actually from a program directly. It was FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler in response to John Oliver, “I am not a dingo”.

I’m glad you put that quote in by Beckett in the Veritas episode of Castle. I didn’t understand it then, and still don’t. Does she mean she wants to kill someone he cares for so he can suffer, does she mean she wants to kill him (it won’t matter then about building his character) or does she mean she wants him to kill her (which she also asks for in that scene)? Help.

  10. Briggs says:

I enjoyed all the quotes (in particular, from Arrow and Flash), but the one that did it for me was from Dr. Who, which made Earth sound like the Milky Way’s Sicily (an island off Italy’s boot, which was consistently invaded in the days of yore).

    HIMYM – “Major Problems”

Perhaps he most telling quote/retort of the 2013-14 season was that ‘missing scene’ from the HIMYM finale – the Ted/Robin lunch reunion scene that was cut from the finale, and is now included in the Season 9 HIMYM DVD package, released this past fall/Sept.

In that scene, which takes place in 2019, the day after Ted and Penny run into Robin on the street, Ted and Robin have lunch at a cafe, and Robin (knowing that Ted has not yet gotten married to Tracy, and mistakes that for the possibility that Ted still has feelings for her/Robin) alarms Ted with her still having feelings for him. As Ted gets up to leave, her asks Robin if she is okay. She says yes, she is happy with her life, no major problems.

As Ted walks away, he turns back to Robin just prior to reaching the door to leave the café, and gives Robin their insider secret-salute and says “Major Problems”; Robin does the same back to Ted and smiles. That line – “Major Problems” means so much more at that point in the storyline than simply a continuation of the Ted-Robin sgt./major insider salute the two have now shared for years. Indeed, ‘major problems’ are on the horizon for Ted, and some major decisions are coming their way for both Ted and Robin.

A haunting scene and a cool and somewhat profound way for Thomas/Bays to wrap up the Ted-Robin relationship. The fact that Ted proposes to Tracy soon after that rendezvous with Robin at the café, makes one wonder what impact that café encounter had on Ted and timing of his proposal to Tracy. Interesting indeed.
