TVLine Mixtape, Joe Cocker Edition: Songs From Wonder Years, ER and More

Joe Cocker TV Music

Whaaaaat would you dooooo… if I suddenly started singing the theme song to The Wonder Years? You’d probably start hearing Joe Cocker’s cover of “With a Little Help From My Friends” in your head — and with good reason. That song is good.

Cocker, the British singer known for making the Beatles’ hit his own, died after a battle with lung cancer, his agent announced Monday. Cocker was 70.

To celebrate the musical legend’s 40-year career, we’ve put together a special edition of TVLine Mixtape featuring episodes that have used his tunes. HouseERMiami Vice — they’re all in here. (Be warned: “Feelin’ Alright” comes up a lot.)

We selected musical moments we liked, but as always: If you’ve got a special memory of a TV show that used Cocker’s songs, make sure to shout it out in the comments.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Awwww, feeling nostalgic for The Wonder Years.
    And the Belushi/Cocker duet…absolutely amazing.
RIP Joe Cocker. One of the best.

While no specific TV moment to mention in conjunction with it “You can leave your hat on” was always a favourite of mine by Joe. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of seeing Joe Cocker at a festival last year in Germany, and was glad I did. What an iconic voice! I actually clicked on this thinking of “Feelin’ Alright” because I thought about Huey Lewis’ cover for the movie “Duets” and how much I loved the original song as well.
