The Hot Tamale train may be leaving the station. And if so, Paula Abdul could prove to be forever Fox’s girl.
Our sister site Deadline is reporting that So You Think You Can Dance may give the judges’ dais a facelift for the coming Season 12, with original arbiter Mary Murphy rumored to be parting ways with the competition series.
If Murphy does bow out, Fox is said to be eyeing American Idol alum/choreographer/sometime singer Paula Abdul to fill the void. Abdul has guest-judged on Fox’s SYTYCD on three occasions, as well as sat on the dais for the most recent cycle of So You Think You Can Dance Australia, Mate.
It’s still early days, however, with regards to any change, as a source tells Deadline that formal talks with Abdul have not taken place.
Already, SYTYCD announced a Season 12 format change that will maintain an even mix of stage versus street dancers throughout most of the cycle.
Abdul also has judged for Fox’s The X Factor and shepherded her own short-lived competition series, Live to Dance.
Would you welcome Paula and/or miss Mary?
