Sneak Peek: Has The Mentalist Caught the FBI's New Recruit in a Lie?

Loading video...

As CBS’ The Mentalist opens its farewell run this Sunday at 9:30/8:30c, the FBI team has bid adieu to Agent Fisher. A fresh new recruit, though, is joining their ranks — but she’d perhaps be wise to behold Patrick Jane’s mad skills.

As seen in the above sneak peek, Michelle Vega (played by new series regular Josie Loren, Make It or Break It) has barely exchanged her first hellos when Jane tenders an observation about her background. Vega, though, rebuffs his suggestion and instead offers an alternate scenario. Is the noob hiding something, or is this a rare instance of Jane missing the mark? Or is there possibly a third explanation?

Watch the video above, then share your theories on what the truth might be.

So excited for The Mentalist as the series begins its final season come Sunday. Last season was a true letdown and somewhat lackluster but it was a good thing to have the final 13 episodes going out with a bang just like what Chuck (NBC) and Fringe (Fox) did in the past.

Does that other guy say “that isn’t good” at 0.40? Whats that all about?

Thank you for the SP, Matt, as always! ;)

Glad he got rid of those vest, maybe he’ll come across as sexy this season.

Maybe she worked in intelligence and can’t discuss it?

Then she’d have a better cover: all she had to do was say “yes” and have her service be as a stores clerk in Anchorage counting pallets of TP. IIRC there was a while when Delta was listed as “logistics”….

They made enough of a point about it that’s she’s hiding something but her reason is likely more personal than otherwise.

Oo.oh….excited!! The show really dropped off last season after that exhilarating run upto the demise of Red John & the move to Texas (barring that awesome sauce shippers dream of a finale!) but so far it looks like this final season is back on track with that unique Mentalist charm that’s kept me coming back for more in plenty abundance.

If it’s a lie Jane would know it. I mean I doubt they would have him start missing his mark in the finale season. (Especially since Jane missing his mark wouldn’t be classic The Mentalist) Besides last season didn’t Jane make a guess about Fischer and she rebuked him about it? Nobody likes other people knowing something personal about themselfs so why would Vega be any diffrent.

  9. Suzanne Lewis says:

As per usual, a latecomer to the Mentalist, didn’t quite ‘get it’ when it first came out. Last month I sat with it on in the background on a re run and started to watch the whole 6 series back to back and am now hooked only to find this will be the last series. I am baffled as to why, when some of the other shows we get to see in the Uk go on for ages past their sell by date yet something like this is ending.

i think it’s b/c simon baker is getting paid too much money for a show that is not at the top of the ratings. w/ endorsements he made more money for the past year than jim parsons of the big bang theory.
