Including the stars of those awful rom-coms basically invalidated this whole photo journalism piece for me.

Haven’t seen Manhattan Love Story yet, but Analeigh Tipton has already proven that she can be crazy charismatic even in thankless supporting bit parts. She stole every one of her scenes in Warm Bodies.

    • wordsmith says:

Also, romantic comedy may not be your thing, but it is an empirical fact that you can’t put Ben Feldman and Cristin Milioti together in front of a TV camera and not have it be adorable.

  2. Dennis says:

Love A to Z already, seems like a great show! Hope people will watch in a difficult timeslot

  3. Tran says:

Scorpion is one of the new shows I’m looking forward to because of Elyes Gabel.

  4. Aha says:

In all the promos for Gotham I thought the penguin was the satanic emo character with a cat. I am extremely disappointed now.

    • wordsmith says:

What promos have you been watching? That doesn’t sound like anything I’ve seen…

    • wordsmith says:

Wait, you must mean the little girl who plays Selina/Catwoman. Yes, I could see how you could mistake her for a character called “The Penguin”…

      • Aha says:

No. I thought it was Klarion the witch boy who looks a lot this version of the penguin. He has a pet black cat

        • wordsmith says:

I get it now. You thought he was going to be Klarion rather than Penguin. Less exciting, yes, but more in keeping with the non-supernatural tone of this particular show.
It would be kind of lame to have a sorcerer character in a world with no magic.
If it’s any consolation, this particular version of the Penguin is pretty darn cool too.

  5. wordsmith says:

I have only seen seven of the twelve pilots you mention, but I agree with all of your picks. A lot of great talent coming up this year.
Hopefully the quality of the shows built around them will be able to keep on delivering.

  6. Fran says:

Charlie Rowe is what got me interested in watching Red Band Society. I’ve never heard of him before but there’s something about him that has me intrigued.

  7. Jon says:

Can you really call any of them “breakout stars” before a single episode has aired? How many of these new shows will be cancelled by the third week?

    • Fran says:

These are potential breakout stars, which is what they state in the article. It’ll be interesting to see what shows make it.

  8. Stormy says:

It strikes me that most of these will fail simply because there is too much to choose from and one can’t watch everything. Am I the only one who thinks there’s too much TV?
