Tony Shalhoub Joins Nurse Jackie Season 7 in Recurring Role

Tony Shalhoub

Nurse Jackie‘s Emmy muscle just got even stronger.

Tony Shalhoub — a three-time Emmy winner (and eight-time nominee) for Monk — has landed a recurring role on Season 7 of Showtime’s dark comedy, opposite four-time champ Edie Falco and one-time winner Merritt Wever. (Whew!)

Shalhoub will play Dr. Bernard Prince, a new ER doctor who in addition to having “a great bedside manner and a special touch with his boss, Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith),” will offer Jackie some desperately needed friendship.

The pay cabler renewed Nurse Jackie back in April, while confirming that star Peter Facinelli would exit the series before production began on Season 7.

I used to love this show, but during the last season I actually came to dislike Jackie. Watching her slide back into total addiction and stab everyone she supposedly loves in the back was a real downer.

But…that’s oftentimes how addiction works in real life. I totally agree she became unlikeable, but I think she was supposed to. I still love this series. However, season 7 should really be the final one.

I think the last two seasons have been the strongest

  3. Tran says:

Hope Tony Shalhoub’s new gig on Nurse Jackie is going to rebound from the very awful We Are Men over on CBS last season.

I wonder if Carrie will leave with Coop. I suspect the baby won’t be his or she’ll miscarry the baby…
