Ratings: Last Comic and Gang Related Rise With Finales, Rookie Blue Up

Last Comic Standing Finale

NBC’s Last Comic Standing on Thursday night closed Season 8 with 4.9 million total viewers and a 1.4 demo rating, surging 40 percent week-to-week to deliver a best-since-premiere audience and hit a nine-week demo high.

Versus its previous finale circa 2010 (3.9 mil/1.5), the already renewed LCS was up in audience and off just a tenth in the demo.

Glad to see RB ratings going up!!! My favorite summer show has been pretty good this season. Loving McSwarek!!!! Can’t believe Sam likes watching The Bachelorette lol Gail is funnier than ever lol Just wish this whole Dov/Chole/Wes thing was over with. I really don’t want to see Dov get hurt :( I hope we see more Erin Karpluk!!! Loved the meet-cute between her and Nick. Interested to see where they take it.
P.S. Surprised you guys didn’t recap Rookie Blue last night.

This season was the first in which I’ve watched Last Comic Standing, and I really enjoyed it. I hope they keep the judges and host next season.

Hmmm. This season of LCS was good. It was a tough decision between the final 3. They all killed their final 2 sets

JB, if it’s really you, I must respectfully disagree with your finale assessment. My friend and I watched the full season and loved it. You were great, the judges were great, and unlike earlier seasons, the focus seemed to purely on performances.
Until the finale. None of the 3 comics bombed, which is a feat in and of itself, considering how much material the comics had to come up with all season. Rodman was my friend’s fave & hope to win. I liked Lachlan but was waiting for the finale performances to see who I thought should win (which is what I thought the judges were doing). I thought all 3 were worthy to be there and had equal shots of taking the prize.
All the comics did well, but I think the only comic who “killed” was Lachlan, in both rounds. The others provided laughs but I was crying through Lachlan’s 2 sets. Hysterical! My friend thought so, too, and was preparing to hear that Rodman lost. He was stunned to hear Rodman win. Me, too.
I would love to know what Roseanne said before the last break, which was bleeped out. Keenan seemed to be making a case for considering the whole season – foul! Each week they had to work it to stay, I thought the finale would be handled the same way. If you were basing it on the full season, why bother with 2 rounds of performances?
A good show whiffed at the end. Maybe at the finale, additional voices or votes should be included somehow.

      • I totally agree with everything said here. This has been a surprisingly great season for LCS with a LOT of great talent making it thru each week. Lachlan was the only one who truly killed with both of his sets this week and I was completely shocked that Rod Man won the whole thing. If anything, I thought that Nikki had the best chance of taking it after my personal fave Joe Machi was eliminated last week. As disappointed as I was to see him lose and not make it to the finale, it was clear that these three were truly the ones to beat this week. As one of the prizes was a development deal for NBC, I thought that would play a factor in the judges’ decision. Either Nikki or Lachlan would be perfect to anchor a weekly sitcom. Rod Man? Not so much.

I also really enjoyed seeing Rosanne on stage as well as Russell during the finale. Neither one had too long of a set and Rosanne showed just why she has had a long and amazing career. She’s always been amazing at stand up and you could really tell how much she loved getting back on stage and delivering some great jokes. I do truly believe that each one of the judges were surprised and inspired at the level of joke writing these new comedians brought each week. Kudos to a GREAT season LCS!

  5. Gang Related has to be one of the most complicated, brutal shows out there. But I can’t stop watching, and can’t wait for more. Please tell me it has been renewed for another season.
