Scoop: Yvette Nicole Brown Joins CBS' Odd Couple — What Does This Mean for Community's Shirley?

Yvette Nicole Brown The Odd Couple

Community‘s Yvette Nicole Brown has landed a recurring gig on CBS’ upcoming reboot of The Odd Couple, TVLine has learned.

The actress and talk-show MVP will play Dani, assistant to Matthew Perry’s Oscar. She replaces Sarah Baker, who was let go shortly after the show was ordered to series.

The multi-cam remake, which is set to bow at midseason, follows two mismatched roommates: the messy Oscar Madison (Perry) and neat freak Felix Unger (Thomas Lennon). The cast also includes Wendell Pierce (The Michael J. Fox Show, Treme) and Lindsay Sloane (Weeds).

It’s unclear how the Odd Couple gig will impact Brown’s role as Shirley in Community‘s upcoming sixth season on Yahoo Screen, although it’s expected that she will return to the former NBC series in some capacity. (The Odd Couple will start shooting well before Community resumes production, so it’s conceivable that she could do both shows.)
