The Good Wife Casts Steven Pasquale as Alicia's Possible [Spoiler]

Steven Pasquale can look forward to a very Good autumn.

The Rescue Me and Do No Harm vet will join the cast of CBS’ The Good Wife for a Season 6 arc as a campaign expert courted by Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold to manage Alicia’s possible run for state’s attorney, according to Deadline.

Does this mean Julianna Margulies’ alter-ego will say “yes” to Eli’s plan for her to challenge Michael Cerveris’ James Castro for his seat? Deadline notes Pasquale’s gig is only slated to last for two episodes, so the prognosis remains cloudy. (It’s worth noting both Matthew Goode’s Finn and Christine Baranski’s Diane have walked away from the race.)

  1. DL says:

I’m really hoping she decides to focus on building Florrick-Agos, especially with Diane potentially bringing her clients into the fold.

  2. Christian says:

Steven is an amazing actor and The Good Wife is an amazing show so this is amazing news!

  3. Steven says:

Maybe by the end of the season it’ll be Lockhart-Agos with Alicia the State’s Attorney.

  4. ss says:

They are bringing in a lot of guys into the show in an attempt to fill the void left by the exit of Josh Charles…but I don’t think it’s gonna work out…

  5. ggny says:

By the middle of this season i think Good Wife is gonna regret killing Will. They did it as a flashy look at us move to get a emmy nom and that didnt even happen. The ratings will bottom out even more and the show will end this season.

    • steven why says:

Argh. I know you’re just writing stuff like this to get fans agitated, and I guess I fell for it. It wasnt a flashy look at us move, it was well crafted, acted and written and had long lasting emotional impact on the story and characters. Ugh, why do I care – never gonna convince you cause you’re a dumb*ss.

      • ggny says:

wow you got really angry over me simple stating something. if my simple post in which i said nothing negative about the good wife made you this angry. You really need to seek out better life choices. im sorry i made you that angry over a comment on a tv show article. Just wow

        • TV Gord says:

steven pegged it. That’s exactly what you’re doing.

          Don’t feed the troll.

          • ggny says:

amazing. i said nothing negative about the good wife but im trolling? You guys need to make better choices in your life’s

        • TamedTrouble says:

Actually, the comment was negative. It wasn’t a “look at us” move. Josh Charles made it known he wanted to leave the show before the last season started. The season was written to lead up to his exit. The cast did not even know until they received the script. The show does well because they are not afraid to break from the usual tv drama formula and take some chances with the story lines.

      • ittybitty says:

Now, now, Steven..remember….talk smart, not dumb(*ass). Postings like ours make you sound like the character “Red” from That 70’s Show.

    • Douglas from Brazil says:

Josh Charles decided to leave the show, so even if they didn’t kill him, they’re still have to cast other actors to fill the void.

    • kentuckywoman says:

He’s the one who wanted to leave the show. I don’t think the writers/producers would have killed him off on their own accord.

  6. S says:

He’s an amazing and versatile actor! Can’t wait!

  7. Deena says:

    So happy about this!

  8. Lizo says:

I absolutely adore The Good Wife and it really is one of the best dramas on tv……but would it kill them to use these ‘guest roles’ on some actors of colour. Aside from Kalinda we only see Darius and Lamond for like six seconds every season.

  9. MGL says:

He is not strong enough. Josh Charles had “presence”. This actor cannot fill the void. Should never have killed Will; at least then the hope of a possible return was there.

  10. Lizzie says:

I really, really hope she doesn’t run for SA. It would be going completely against the character they’ve been building for five years. Just… No.

    • J says:

I agree. Alicia running for State’s Attorney would be akin to the Nick/Kalinda storyline…completely against the essence of the characters as developed over several years. The whole political scene seems against her grain. Plus, I think Alicia will be distancing herself from Peter. Throwing her hat in the political ring would place her within Peter’s wake. That does not seem like something she would want.

  11. TV Gord says:

He was hilarious on Rescue Me and super creepy on Do No Harm. I’m looking forward to see what he brings to this amazing series!

  12. Evelyn Hndz says:

another great actor joining the chaos that is the Good Wife. Can’t wait!

  13. Louee says:

This is good news. Mr Pasquale is a very charismatic actor , and an accomplished Broadway singer. I hope he lasts for more than two episodes.

  14. leola says:

Margulies & Pasquale together in one frame… YES Please!!! Can’t wait.

  15. Jan Hansen says:

Such a smart well written show! It steps out of the routine formulas and into some experimental concepts so there are many surprises. One of the best available. I never miss it and look forward to additions to a wonderful acting ensemble though Josh is sorely missed. Julianna is great. Can’t wait for the next season to start.

ps. Why would people engage in petty unrelated arguments on this page???

  16. Linda says:

He doesn’t look very appealing in this photo. Will wait to see the his acting combined with final appearance

  17. Natural music says:

I hope the writer’s abandon the State’s Attorney run story line quickly. After watching Alicia grudgingly participate in the political world because of her connection to Peter, running for public office seems out of character. This idea resembles the horribly executed Kalinda/NIck arc. Kalinda seemed to lose any sense of strength and intelligence in her scenes with NIck. The arc seemed “uncharacteristic.” Likewise, Alicia running for State’s Attorney” seems uncharateristic. SHe would remain in Peter’s wake. Although Chris Noth is a great cast member, I would really like to see Alicia move away from Peter.

  18. Doreen Hoy says:

Can’t wait to see Steven on one of my favorite shows. Loved him in Rescue me! He will be amazing to see with Alicia! He’s a multi talent actor!!!

  19. Maureen says:

Great idea to add Steven Pasquale!

  20. KarenM says:

I love his character on the show. So much tension at first and now chemistry. He’s good for her and love the triangle relationship with Eli! Great story line . I see her more with him than Finn. “In my opinion”

  21. Elaine M. Winton says:

ABSOLUTELY! Steven is my oldest/longest bff’s Nephew, so I am, undoubtedly “stoked” to view him on “The Good Wife.” I’m hoping he’ll become a regular character incorporated into several episodes, as he is an outstanding performer!

  22. KarenM says:

He is awesome is Johnny. Alicia’s co campaign mgr. I am so glad he has been on more than twice. He and Alicia have tons of chemistry. Even more than her and Finn. They are great together.

  23. Steven Pasquale is Broadway Musical singer and actor who was with Kelli O Hara in the musical The Bridges of Madison Country.anothermusical sta rin the tv shows.

  24. kentuckywoman says:

Truthfully, I’ve always been disappointed that the show didn’t have Alicia and Peter reconcile. In many ways I think there could have been such great storylines.

As far as the characters of Alicia, Johnny (campaign manager) and Finn…I’d like to see Alicia romantically involved with someone nearer her own age. That 10-12 year age difference just doesn’t seem likely. It’s like the show is trying to make the actress seem younger than she really is by pairing her with younger guys…but really, that just panders to the fact that for some reason male show biz execs seem to think that an actress is washed up by the time she hits 30 or so, and so try to make her appear younger. It’s probably why so many actresses have plastic surgery and I think that’s quite sad and unnecessary.

I’d still like to see Alicia and Peter get back together. They could always try counseling/therapy. Imo, they both need to make some personality changes. But I think it would be great to show how two people so much in love could grow so far apart and then years later come back together again. Far more romantic than a sexual liason with a younger guy, I think.

  25. peg murphy says:

such a mistake to let this fine actor go. Bringing him back would create real interest in the show.
