Ratings: NBA Finals Game 1 Up Vs. 2013, Undateable Hit Hardest By Hoops

NBA Finals Lebron James

ABC’s broadcast of the NBA Finals Game 1 between the Heat and Spurs on Thursday night drew 14.9 million total viewers and a 6.0 demo rating (per finals), up 5 percent in each measure from last year’s series opener.

Opening ABC’s night, Jimmy Kimmel’s pre-game special did 3.9 mil and a 1.1, down a smidgen from its year-ago numbers.

NBC’s double-pump of Undateable — averaging 3 mil and a 1.0 — took the biggest hit opposite hoops, dropping 21 and 23 percent from its premiere night. Last Comic Standing (4.3 mil/1.4) in turn was off 9 and 12 percent. Opening NBC’s night, Hollywood Game Night (4 mil/1.1) dipped just a tenth.

Over on Fox, Hell’s Kitchen (4.8 mil/1.7) inched up a tenth while Gang Related (2.9 mil/0.8) slipped 6 and 20 percent.

I’ve tried to watch and enjoy Gang Related, but it’s just not happening for me–which is fine since it will likely be cancelled anyway. Now it’s just a question of how much longer do I stick around. I think I’ll give it one more episode before I decide to officially pull the plug or stick it out.

  2. Amy says:

I am liking Gang Related. I like the characters and am not picky about the plot. There are some real moments of suspense….like when Acosta almost beat that poor college kid. I think that Ryan didn’t give up the alias to Acosta last night…I think there is someone else on the inside.

I watched half of Gang Related last night, then decided I was done with the show. It just hasn’t gripped me. I’ll look forward to Rookie Blue coming back in a couple weeks. I assume it’s taking its regular Thursday night spot.

Watching it right now (Gang Related) and 1) its gonna get cancelled 2) there just isnt enough there, Dark Blue on TNT had more there that was compelling…3) He just realized he had one bullet left while holding the girl and the bad guys coming after him…yet the ground is littered with full pistols and MP5’s (submachine guns) that the badguys were using (they are dead on the floor)…which is why i hate network TV lol…on cable, writers put in more effort and would either have him pick up one of the badguys guns, or found a diff way to add even more suspense to the situation instead of “last bullet left” surrounded by perfectly usable guns he could just pick up and use.

Finished the ep, 1) its INSANELY disgusting and would be a HUGE portrayal as a Cop/Firefighter/Paramedic to have HIV (or any communicable disease) and not inform at LEAST your partner…the odds they or paramedics will have to touch your blood (she could have easily been unconscious when shot and not able to stop anyone by saying “NO!”).

      2) Im pretty sure (like Soldiers in the military) that when you get into SWAT gear like they did, part of your gear (typically hanging off the back of your belt) is a medical kit, so in reality when shes shot, it would be protocol to get her med-kit, open it up, put on the gloves, use the Quik-Clot bandage on her GSW, and apply pressure…and lets say as partners they usually skit the gloves part…when she implies she has a communicable disease, he would then DEFINITELY put on the gloves, why risk getting HIV just to stop bleeding from a thigh GSW using your hands straight up? Besides odds are he would have shooting gloves he could put on (because going into those SWAT situations, your hands get clammy/sweaty and you want as much grip as possible so they & soldiers wear gloves). Again, i cant stand stupid plot points just to create drama (you can bet next episode is drama about how he has to get tested and how she is pissed he did that but then has feelings for him cause he cares so much etc).
