Once Gets Oz-some, a Good Wife Exit, Ex-Factor and More Fall TV Predictions: Which Came True?

More than eight months ago, as the TV season was just being unleashed, the TVLine staff threw caution to the wind and ventured forth with our predictions for 27 different shows.

All told, we shared our best educated guesses about Grey’s Anatomy contract renewals, the exit of a major Good Wife character, The X Factor‘s fate, Once Upon a Time possibly getting Wicked, a Sleepy Hollow makeover, S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s super premiere numbers, a less-than-Super spin-off and more.

Where did we outright nail it, and where (and how) did we come up a bit short? (And in what instances were we just plain wrong?) In this gallery, we present our original predictions exactly as they appeared in mid-September 2013, accompanied by each outcome.

    Good riddance Community!

    • Ron says:

I hate your existence…in the nicest possible way.

    • TV Gord says:

You didn’t have something else to watch for that one half hour a week? You should go outside. It’s beautiful outside,.

    • Et al. says:

I’d love to hear some of the comedies you enjoy (I’m thinking most of them are on CBS or ABC Family).

      • dman6015 says:

I believe that list would include such comedies as The Millers, Mike and Molly, 2 Broke Girls, Mom, The Mindy Project, and so on.

Nice! Although I think Kalinda will be written out next season. If the rumours of Julianna and Archie having a feud (which is why they haven’t had scenes together for a very very long time) is true, then it kinda leaves Kalinda as a character in a bit of a dead-end with nowhere to go, since it is Alicia’s show.

    • j says:

Never heard those rumors. Regardless, as far as I see it they only have two options with Kalinda, assuming they commit to Dianne moving to Florrick/Agos. If they do that, then LG will stop existing as a location on the show. So option one is that Kalinda- and David Lee- “stay” at LG and are just never heard from again, except maybe as guest stars here and there. Option 2 is that the two of them, or more likely just Kalinda, move with Dianne to F/A.

      • DL says:

Kalinda I could see coming over to Florrick, Agos (now Florrick, Agos, & Lockhart?), but no way David Lee goes with (and no way Alicia would take him).

      • TV Gord says:

That’s all they are. Rumors, started by message board people with overactive imaginations.

      • Ann says:

I don’t know if Kalinda would go to Florrick Agos. They already have Robin. And Cary is feeling a bit betrayed by Kalinda after finding out she’s been using him.

      • dman6015 says:

Maybe Cary will be so pissed that he’ll move to the former LG (The Canning Group?) and it’ll just be Florrick/Lockhart?

  3. Jen says:

Half of those predictions didn’t even come true, which isn’t a surprise because they were pretty ridiculous predictions to begin with. Not trying to be rude. Just saying.

  4. Marianne says:

Can we predict for next season that Glee will take place in space? Since the show doesn’t make much sense to begin with, this will be a perfect setting.

  5. ProfessorPreis says:

Actually, The Blacklist prediction was right – it got a full-season pick-up on October 4 (two months later was the renewal, not full-season pick-up). Sleepy Hollow got renewed on October 3, and never got a full-season pick-up (because they went with a 13 episode season).

looks like I’m not the only one unable to get over the Trophy Wife cancellation. ADD IT TO THE LIST (including but not limited to Best Friends Forever and Perfect Couples; honorable mention to Better With You)!!

  7. Angela says:

    That “Community” one hurts. Oof.
Also, Abbie would totally rock a cocktail dress, no question :). May there be more entertaining wardrobe moments next season on “Sleepy Hollow”!

  8. Stormy says:

Out of 27 shows, I only watch Bones, OUAT and TBBT. So you’re 1 for 3 in my book.

  9. TrickyGreyArea says:

I adore Juliette/Avery, but Juliette/Deacon (as friends or lovers) is another one of my favorite ships on “Nashville”. I wouldn’t have minded seeing them hook up again; probably the most awkward part about it would’ve been the fact she has built somewhat of a friendship with his daughter.

  10. Bones hasn’t aired it’s finale yet, so someone could still be dead, but I’m guessing you guys know better…..right?

  11. RS says:

Someone needs to pick up and run with Trophy Wife.

  12. Larry says:

Glee lost 50% of it’s demo and 62% of total viewers over the 3 months it was onTuesdays. It can considered a big failure trying to move to NY from it’s core concept. The media was very wrong to what the audience would accept about the show.

  13. Matt says:

These predictions were very naive. And some pretty “forced” explanations to try and pretend TVLine got it even partially correct.

  14. Fall From Grace says:

It should be noted that the 10th season of Supernatural has NOT been announced as it’s last. It HAS been said by the execs at CW that they can continue as long as they want if they continue with the same ratings.

    • Jess says:

Well they never said it was the last. It was just the prediction most likely because WB/CW shows don’t often go past 10 seasons. But seeing as how SPN didn’t really start getting popular til its latest seasons, I can see it lasting a while.

  15. Kay says:

Why tvline? Why would you jinx community like that. Grrrrr

  16. Tracy says:

Hope season 10 isn’t the end for Supernatural! it’s the best show on TV!

  17. nostra says:

How many predictions have they made in the past turned out as predicted?

  18. Jeanette says:

I LOVED Trophy Wife. I will miss it.
