During a rehearsal for tonight’s season finale (ABC, 8/7c), Ballas injured his shoulder while attempting a lift, People reports.

“Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking,” a spokesperson for the show tells the magazine. “His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It’s unclear whether or not he’ll be able to perform on Monday’s show.”

Though Ballas was advised not to compete during the finale, the seasoned pro is insisting on hitting the dance floor tonight.

Three other pairs remain in the competition — Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd, and Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy — and now, it’s looking to be anyone’s game.

    Candace was a frontrunner? When?

    • Andy Swift says:

      She’s a fan-favorite, at the very least. I don’t think it’s unfair to call her a frontrunner.

      • trvally1 says:

      • She’s not a fan favorite or a front runner. She’s just there, she’s the obligatory “How did she get there” star.

        • Elba Lopez says:

She is there because she is not a dancer and doing as good as the ones that have danced before
and better. Do you know anything about dance, I do. And by the way she is a star and a good one.
Are you an actor or actress how many TV or movies have you been. That one named NENE should not be there at all, she is not a star and she is very vulgar on that show she is and in person
She should have gone the first week.

    • Steven says:

She’s the worst dancer & shouldn’t even be in the finale. Its the Christian religious right winfer campaign that supported Bristol Palin.. Plus she has Full House fans that now make up the typical woman who watches the show. The judges probably will score her lower to make sure she doesn’t win. Now Mark is popular. Maks will continueto milk tthe ‘I never won’ plus he has the ringer in a pro “dancer..” Derek also has fans & has won the most & has the sympathy vote… And Maslow needs to dance shirtless as much as possible.. Bottomless even better

      • Liz says:

Meryl is not a ringer, how you move on ice is much much different to how you move on a dance floor! The only advantage that might give her would be ability to learn routines, and rhythm, but the moves on dwts are very different than her ice dance. She’s an athlete learning to do dancing. By your logic you could put Any of the dance pro’s in ice skates and they’d be Olympic caliber ice dancers with only a few weeks of skating training.

        • Darlene says:

Really? As an ice DANCER she is a ringer. Until a few years ago they did ballroom dances in competitions- then it was changed. So obviously, they learned ballroom dances on a dance floor before doing them on the ice. That’s how Derek was able to choreograph their short program for the olympicd.

      • Elba Lopez says:

The Judges keep trying to score her low, but the people is the one that decide not the Judges.
And she is very good dancing and nice to watch. You probably are jealous that she looks so good
and she is not old. She is a young and very pretty girl. You probably are fat and old.

    • Aryn says:

Gosh people either love Candace, or hate her…she is an American Icon because she was in one of the most known sitcoms across the world; Yes World not just the U.S. At least she goes out there each week knowing she has something to prove and she has accomplished more than I bet she ever imagined she would! Cut her some slack – could you get out there and do that week after week with millions of people watching and criticizing you?? I think she has come a long way since week 1 and I give her major credit for not only her faith but for not backing down because it’s not the PC thing to do in Hollywood!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GO CANDACE :) :)

  2. Valerie Tower says:

I’m disappointed that she made the finals and when the wonder years girl went home. I’m still routing for M&M.

  3. Stacey says:

She’s my hope to win and my favourite! But no way is Candace is a front-runner, not in the race that has Meryl and Amy in it. She’s very much a dark horse even before Mark’s injury. She has the fanbase. But she was never a front runner, after the first few weeks of the competition. No doubt Mark will be performing. Not in the last night of competition that could mean if Candace makes it to Tuesday dance off and the announcement on the title.

    • qj201 says:

Yes Candace has a fan base…of other folks who can’t shut up about being christian.

      • Yolanda says:

Yeah… I tried to like her but enough with that christian talk! We get it, you believe in god… OKAY! Just when I was warming up to her she started talking about her religion non-stop. Why people just can’t be religious and keep it for themselves?

        • eddie says:

because the whole point of christianity is to share your love of god to others so that they too can have a relationship with him.

          • That’s not the point of Christianity at all. Plenty of people consider their relationship with God (however they understand him/her/it) to be a personal and private thing.

          • Locked27 says:

That IS the point of Christianity. Whether you believe it or not, the Bible is full of commands for people to and examples of people sharing “the good news” If some people chose to keep their relationship private then so be it…but if someone were a follower of Christ, which is what a Christian is, the instruction given in the Bible and by Christ are clear.

          • JLK says:

If people haven’t heard “the good news” by now in this country, then they’ve been living under a rock. There’s a line between noting you’re a woman of faith and seeming like a hypocrite who’s looking for some kind of extra hole punch in her ticket to heaven by focusing on it so absolutely. Candace crosses that line, in my opinion, and apparently in the opinions of others here. Every time she opens her mouth at this point, all I hear is, “Amen, I say to you, she has received her reward.”

          • If anything the “point” of Christianity is to love each other. But that’s a lot harder than just talking about it all the time.

          • Lena says:

@Locked27–You are correct that there are tons of scriptures in the Bible instructing people to share “the good news”. Also, Marceline, practice being less judgmental. You missed that in the Bible, huh?

        • Elba Lopez says:

Because they ask her about it and the other talk about loosing legs, Olympics and family tragedy.
This is about dancing not religion or Olympic or not having legs. It is dancing and be happy to do it.
          Get over.

  4. Sarah says:

Typically when a pro is hurt, another pro learns the dances, so Candace will still be able to perform tonight even if a Mark cannot. I feel so badly for both of them, it has to be so disheartening to have this happen the night before the finals. Even if she may not be “the” front-runner, you want to leave your best dance out there.

  5. Yolanda says:

Nothing sells better than drama. lol How convenient he’s got injured just before the finals… DWTS clearly loves its drama.

  6. Amie says:

Ya gotta know this happened *because* Candace Cameron is not a front-runner. Mark is dialing up the drama to give them a better chance. It will be all, oh, poor Mark! Seriously injured and yet valiantly returning to the ballroom because he (sob, whimper) doesn’t want to leave Candace in the lurch so he will (sob, whimper) put his own pain aside in a heroic attempt to lift her, anyway. RME.

  7. Shannon says:

Candice also wrote on Facebook that she is facing some minor injuries as well – back spasms and a bruised rib. She practiced yesterday with another pro in case Mark isn’t able to dance tonight.

  8. RUCookie says:

Please dont create more hype around her. She did not deserve to be in the finale. calling her a forerunner is disingenious at best. She has outstayed her welcome for many of the dance loving fans.

  9. Teresa says:

I love how people omplain that religion is supposed to be private but many of those same ones feel that someone’s sex life is something one should be proud of and brought out publicly. Just as you may not think she should publicly proclaim her faith, I personally believe that those stars who “come out” as gay should have just left it alone. I do not care who they are romping with in the bedroom. Oh the liberal hypocrisy!

And btw, Meryl will win. The ringer usually does. I love Meryl, but they’ve gotten so far away from the point of this show by putting those in who already know how to dance well.

    • Liz says:

you know people don’t come out as gay so you know who they are romping around with in the bedroom? You are aware of that right? They do it because it’s part of who they are, and it’s important for the many teens and young adults out there struggling with their own identities to have positive role models who are comfortable being who they are. Not to offend you. AND btw I’m a politically conservative christian.

      • Teresa says:

Well one’s faith is also an integral part of who they are. Why can’t someone be public about that without getting bitched at?

        • Angela says:

Because so often when people make a big deal of their faith in public, it’s done to show how much holier-than-thou they are. There’s often an air of, “I’m Christian and therefore better than those heathens who aren’t.” about them, and it seems more like they’re showing off than actually sharing a genuine expression of their faith.
That’s not always the case, of course-some people can discuss their faith in ways that don’t make it seem like they’re above those who don’t follow their beliefs, and they’re even willing to look at and discuss the aspects of their faith that are less than perfect, too, willing to question religious dogma every so often.
But the former seems to happen a lot often than the latter. Just look at all those “family values” politicians who crow about how great it is to believe in God and how this country is “losing its moral center” because people don’t believe in God (never mind that practically almost all of those family values politicians wind up having their own less than savory scandals that I’m pretty sure are a sign of them losing their own “moral center”, but, whatever).
It’s totally fine to be Christian. It’s fine to discuss your faith in pubic if you so wish. But the moment you start acting like you’re better than others because of what you believe, that’s when people get annoyed and tune you out.

          • Teresa says:

I don’t see Candace acting Holier Than Thou.

          • Angela says:

@Teresa: Never said she did, and I’d meant to put that in my post earlier (god, I wish this site had edit buttons). I think the constant references she makes can get a little much, and I was wondering at the beginning how exactly she hoped to last here with her insistence on staying “clean” in her dancing and costumes (what exactly did she think she was signing up for?), but I don’t think she means anything bad with her talk about her faith. I do think she’s sincere. I was speaking more in a general sense, about Christians as a group. I think Candace is much less pushy than some religious people I’ve seen…but others here obviously feel differently on that front.
It also doesn’t help that Candace’s brother Kirk Cameron is notorious for his deeply religious comments that are also filled with a lot of really offensive, insulting, bizarre attitudes about various groups of people. It’s not fair or right that Candace should be judged by how her brother behaves-so far I have yet to hear her say even half the obnoxious stuff that Kirk’s said (and if she has said it, then I have to say that that would make me quite sad). But I think people probably do lump the two together and that factors into their viewpoint about her statements of faith as well.

    • Liz says:

And more on topic Meryl is not a ringer, how you move on ice is not the same as how you move on land. She from being an athlete has a better ability to retain the routines, but an actress should be able to do that too.

  10. Hillchics says:

Dark horse does not = front runner.

  11. On what planet is or was Candace EVER a frontrunner?

  12. Brenda J. says:

Andy you scared the beejeebers out of me by saying Mark received a “critical” injury. Critical to me means on the brink of death. He got a serious injury yes, but when I first heard that I thought he had broken his back or neck PLEASE don’t use that word loosely. Now inasmuch as Mark is my favorite pro on this season, I don’t think Candace should be in the Final. It really should have been Charlie. However, that being said…I think every year they bring on people who have dance experience in one shape or form (usually they give that person to Derek) so Meryl being on the show is no different than anyone else being on the show.

Personally I’d like Amy to go because I think they treat her differently and let her get away with more because of her handicap so to me that’s not right either. I’m surprised Candace is still there. All her prudish views on everything and her “I’m better than everyone because I believe in God” holier than though attitude, as if the rest of us were evil sinners is a turn off to me. I think Mark was frustrated with her at first.

Anyway…I was rooting for Charlie but now I suppose I’ll root for James. But if Meryl wins I’m okay with that.

  13. Snowlady says:

I thot Charlie, not Candace would round out the top 4. Too Bad and the Pick me, Please Pick me on chosing the dancers for the Team Dance was way too juvinile. Spare me.
Real good season of DWTS Miss the old band and singers tho.. Love Erin, Loved Brooke also but Erin has that interviewer background which is wonderful

  14. Sheila says:

I’m not a dancer, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but do dancers really get injured as often as the people on this show? Or is it all faked for the drama?

    • Angela says:

All the injuries are definitely real-I’ve yet to hear of anyone having faked anything. Do they play up some of them for the drama by having the announcements and news items make them sound worse than they really are sometimes? Yes. But to my knowledge, the injuries are all real. I’m not a dancer, either, but I think it’d be near impossible to do that sort of movement and crazy flips and whatnot week in and week out and NOT run the risk of hurting some part of your body in the process at some point.

  15. Anonymous says:

The wrong couple went home. It should of been Mark and Candace.

  16. Diane Jans says:

Mark and Candace should of gone home!

  17. Sue Gomez says:

I am a dancer, a Christian, and my favorites are M/M, & James and his partner. Candace is a nice person, but not a dancer, very average. This is a dance contest, not a popularity contest controlled by 12 year olds. She should see that.
James got side swiped on this one. People need to vote for the best dancers, not their favorite person. Just like a singing contest, the best singer should win, not the cutest guy or girl.
I am sad that James did not get a chance to dance in the final, but hope that Merle wins!!!
    She is the BEST!!!
