“After careful consideration and discussion with the St. Louis Rams, The Untitled Michael Sam Project has been postponed, allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team,” OWN president Erik Logan said in a statement. “OWN is about elevating and empowering people to achieve their best. It’s clear that we, along with the world, recognize the important opportunity that Michael now has in this moment. We will continue to support him in his journey to earn a spot playing for the Rams.”

“This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football, and will ensure no distractions to his teammates,” added Sam’s manager Cameron Weiss. “Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message.”

The unscripted series was set to follow Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted into the NFL, as he adjusted to life as a professional footballer.

No word yet when production on the series might begin.

    Smart move.

  2. David4 says:

Yeah this wasn’t thought out. I wish him well…

    Go Giants! :)

  3. Aeol says:

I fully support Sam’s efforts, but I felt like this “docuseries” was ill-timed. Let him focus on football without the distractions. Not to mention “Hard Knocks” is really the only sports docuseries I need in my life!

  4. aplwrites says:

I have absolutely nothing against his sexuality, but this is a smart move not for Sam, but for the network. They don’t want to document how the first openly gay player doesn’t make the 53 man roster. I don’t think his on field ability warrants a spot on that roster with the depth they have in the pass rusher category for the Rams.

    • Bobklause says:

Agreed. Had he gone to any other team he might stand a chance…but the Rams? Kinda seems like a [smart] publicity stunt on their behalf.

    • Gus T.T. Showbiz says:

I don’t know. The way that Gregg Williams likes to blitz the QB almost nonstop I could see Michael Sam making the team if he can show improvement on his ability to defend the run.

  5. Lindsay says:

Best decision ever hope it stays that way..

  6. katrina says:

Good move on both parties! And like the person mentioned above me I think Hard Knocks is about as good as you can get for a doc..I don’t think OWN does a very good job on the current docs they have shown!

  7. In order to ensure your child learns the moet
they can you can play toddler games. Teachers would have to copy whatever they wanted to write on the
board to on each child’s slate. Several don’t ave the appropriate hangers because
of their children clothes websites as bad this, the majority
of the youngsters shirts are folded regardless of whether
many of them need to be hung.

  8. Abby says:

Considering the NFLer idiotas who couldn’t help but comment on his sexuality after the ESPN kiss, it’s probably best for his safety that the series not go on. They’ll pummel him on the field because they can. In the past few years I have learned that NHL and NBA players respond to social controversy with general grace and acceptance (if you can play, you can play, end of story), while the majority of NFLers are dumber than a bag of hammers and couldn’t SPELL progress, let alone adapt to it. That gridiron football is ‘Murica’s favourite sport is absolutely no surprise.

  9. JM says:

Worse than Tebow or Johnny Manziel. At least those 2 focus on trying to play football.

  10. Relaxxx says:

Wise choice to just focus on football without having a camera crew following him around all day! It would be a complete distraction from the game he loves!

    • Lindsay says:

I guess that’s what I should have said, (wise choice, that is) because clearly it’s not the best decision ever! Now shall we declare a cease fire?
