Better Call Saul: TV Vet Michael McKean Joins AMC's Breaking Bad Prequel

Better Call Saul Season 1 Cast Michael McKeanLaverne & Shirley alum Michael McKean is packing his briefcase and heading to New Mexico.

The actor is the first new cast member to join AMC’s Breaking Bad prequel spin-off Better Call Saul, our sister site Deadline reports.

McKean will play Dr. Thurber, a sharp lawyer who’s limited by an unusual affliction. He joins Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks, who already have signed on to reprise their Bad roles.

The actor’s extensive resume includes films like This is Spinal Tap and Clue and TV series including SmallvilleThe X-FilesDream On and Saturday Night Live.

The network previously announced that the one-hour series, scheduled to bow in November,  “will focus on the evolution” of the morally-challenged counselor Saul before he became Heisenberg’s defender.
