CBS' Thursday Night Football Dates Set: When This Fall Might Big Bang Reclaim Its Time Slot?

nfl DWCBS has announced its Thursday Night Football schedule for the 2014 season, and all told the network will air NFL games on seven Thursdays, starting in mid-September and largely ending in late October. (An additional game in the package will air on Saturday, Dec. 20.)

All Thursday games will begin at 8:25/7:25c.

What does this mean for Thursday Big Bang Theory Season 8 Premiereevening fare like The Big Bang Theory and Elementary? In a conference call with reporters in February, CBS CEO Les Moonves said the network would not wait to launch the series’ fall seasons. Rather, Moonves indicated Big Bang and Elementary likely would open their seasons on another night and return to their regular Thursday time slots after the games were done — which appears to be just in time for November sweeps (which this year start Oct. 30).

so is CBS the new redheaded stepchild for the nfl??
nfl exec: “give cbs a couple of good ones & several crappy ones that wouldn’t have made on tv anyway”

    • Greg says:

That’s almost exactly how I’d rate these games….not that it matters what I think!

    • Joey says:

What? These are way better match-ups than we have seen on Thursday nights before. Usually Thursday is reserved for garbage match-ups like Bills and Raiders, Titans and Bucs, etc. These are all pretty much Sunday Night and Monday Night football quality match-ups, at the very least, theyre the games that CBS and FOX would have shown to most of the country sunday Afternoons.

    • Dav says:

Thursday night football has always been pretty crappy. Personally I think those games are better than expected. Also, Giants vs. Redskins will be good for them because it is a conference game and New York is the largest TV market in the US.

  2. Monica says:

    I hate Thursday night football.

  3. leigh says:

Beginning season games aren’t nearly as important as end of season games and generally tend not to be exciting. But people watch so CBS wins.

  4. MattArmando says:

Undeserving. CBS will use these games are promo spots for MORE of their NEW borderline, cliche procedurals + comedies… and those new series will do 10+ million.

    • evanovich says:

This is kinda the reason why any network would pay millions, or billions in case of NBC, for any major sporting event.

  5. EJ says:

How will this affect Big Brother? Eviction Night will be Wednesdays? Or maybe Tuesday September 10th will be Finale Night?

    • James says:

Because the season will, more or less, last for 90 days like last year (The game begins), the only possibity I see here is to relocate the final eviction night to Wednesday September 10. The finalewill then occur as scheduled to September 17.

  6. David says:

I still think they should just delay starting BBT and have it run longer into the summer. It could help launch something for summer. The networks need to start programming the summer better. Habits are changing and it never made sense to me that we go 4 months without the most popular shows. They should spread some of the better series out and have staggered start dates.

  7. Julie says:

Steelers/Ravens – best rivalry in football. Go Ravens!

  8. c.stulz says:

Not a big football fan, Shame it takes over Fox Sunday, NBC Monday, and now CBS Thursday. Hopefully NBC will get its Thursday night schedule in order this year as an actual alternative.

  9. Hi there, I desire to subscribe for this website to take
latest updates, so where can i do it please

  10. Doris says:

Isn’t there enough sports on TV? Not everyone loves them. Stupid

  11. Sue says:

This SUCKS!! Why can’t you leave Big Bang (which I love) on Monday until the end of Thursday night football? Some of us can’t afford the NFL channels! WOW you really know how to mess with peope!!

  12. Sandra Crenshaw says:

We don’t want Thursday Night Football to end on CBS. Not everyone has the NFL Channel!
And we couldn’t care less about Big Bang Theory!
Les Moonves needs to get over it. Football is more important!
