Pilot News: Ian Gomez Books CBS Comedy Pilot Cuz-Bros - Is This Bad Omen for Cougar Town?

Ian Gomez Cuz-Bros Pilot CastCBS’ Cuz-Bros is becoming a safe haven for sitcom actors with undefined futures.

Cougar Town‘s Ian Gomez has been cast in the CBS comedy, which also stars Enlisted‘s Parker Young and Geoff Stults, our sister site Deadline reports.

The sitcom centers on Nick (Stults), a Los Angeles ladies’ man whose world is rocked when his cousin Barry (Young) needs a place to crash. Gomez will play Phil, who’s in charge at the radio station where Nick works.

Like Stults and Young, Gomez’s Cuz-Bros part is in second position to his role on TBS’ Cougar Town; if the cabler renews the wine-soaked comedy for a sixth season, Gomez would continue with that series.

I know it’s impossible but could you imagine if this show gets picked up then Cougar Town and Enlisted were renewed.

  2. jenna says:

has tbs renewed anything yet? Really hoping for another season of cougar town :(

    • alistaircrane says:

They renewed Ground Floor a couple of months ago. This is not a good sign. Obviously, Gomez doesn’t think CT will be renewed if he’s booked a new pilot. He’s closer than we are to the behind-the-scenes stuff. Not good at all!

      • Christian says:

Not really.. they seem to be in the dark as much as the fans, and in some cases, even more delusional. Remember the producer of Harry’s Law who got into a b*tchfit with TVBN because they predicted the show’s cancellation? There was also Brooke Shields who was adamant that Lipstick Jungle (I think that was her show or it could’ve been the other S&TC clone that aired that year) was going to be renewed and was then promptly canceled!

      • Zach says:

Really, there are a lot of extenuating circumstances. He might just be doing this because they need a stand in. Plus, Dan Byrd and Josh Hopkins signed on for pilots even though it looked like TBS was going to save the show for a 4th season. And the same thing happened with Happy Endings (Wayans and Pally), Community (Ken Jeong last year) and plenty of others.

        • KevyB says:

Cougar Town is only only had 13 episodes this season. That’s not a ridiculous amount of filming time. They could probably pound that out in less than 10 weeks, which could be done on other shows’ winter hiatus (which I think it did the last two seasons). I don’t understand the holdup here, ras atings were actually up this season from last. And it held up with all the Big Bang Theory reruns surrounding it. More impressive, the finale outperformed the season premiere of Amy Schumer. Ratingswise, it’s done everything it needs to do, so it’s all about how much it costs at this point.

The “Enter your comment here…” wouldn’t go away, hence that indecipherable first sentence lol.

  3. mdbchud says:

What a great scenario. Renew Enlisted and Cougar Town!!!!

  4. alistaircrane says:

PLEASE renew Cougar Town!!! TBS would be so evil to save CT from ABC only to stealth cancel it like this with no resolution! We deserve a proper farewell season, especially since we are so close to 100 episodes. RENEW IT!!!

  5. Eric says:

I really like Enlisted and I’ve loved Cougar Town since it premiered, so it’s hard for me to be excited about how amazing Cuz-Bros’s cast is.

  6. Chris says:

On Imdb, Andrea Anders is also listed on this show.

  7. David4 says:

Enlisted was DOA, time to move on and hope CT has a little life in it. If not they did give us a few more seasons.

  8. alistaircrane says:

On Twitter, Bill Lawrence says we have nothing to worry about, but I am not sure if he knows something we don’t or if he’s just trying to stay optimistic and calm the fans.

  9. Dizzle says:

I’m not too concerned, obviously acting is a job and like any of us regular joes if an actor isn’t certain whether they still have a job they aren’t just going to sit around twiddling their thumbs lol. But on the flip side, it’s a bit odd for one pilot to stack their deck with a bunch of actors in second position?

  10. Ram510 says:

PLEASE RENEW COUGAR TOWN!!!!! Just one last final season. But I’d really like to see Ian on this show. The other 2 guys were great on Enlisted and I think Ian would be a great addition!

  11. steve says:

Renew it for 2 seasons and keep that wine flowing!!!!

  12. MiaB says:

With Cougar Town only having 13 shows a season, I don’t see why he couldn’t do both. But I certainly love Cougar Town and want to see it continue.
