Exclusive Surviving Jack First Look: Chris Meloni Is the Ultimate '90s Dad, Sweatpants and All

Nineties nostalgia is all the rage these days, and if you’re looking for yet another fix, Christopher Meloni‘s new Fox comedy Surviving Jack has “got this” covered.

TVLine has an exclusive first look at the early ’90s-set series — premiering March 27 at 9:30/8:30c — which finds Meloni (Law & Order: SVU) and Rachael Harris (Suits) playing stressed-out parents in the midst of a major change.

“Aside from some interesting fashion choices, I think the ’90s are kind of a background for a story that everybody can relate to,” Harris says in the video. “What do you do when the roles change?”

For Meloni’s character, there’s only one thing he can do: Throw on a pair of fly sweat pants and take back control of his household, even if it means embarrassing his kids in the process. (Actually, especially if it means embarrassing his kids in the process.)

  1. Stormy says:

Chris Meloni creeps me out. All those seasons on SVU he seemed more like a serial killer than a cop. No thanks.

    • dan says:

You should watch him in Oz, that will really change your opinion of him.

Oddly enough, I like him no matter what horrible characters he plays.

    • Jeri says:

Never like him, he even treated his wife & kids like sh-t in L&OSVU, maybe he could change his crabby persona in a comedy. His acting never wavered in L&O, same mood, same asshole each episode.

  2. The Beach says:

I’ve always really liked Meloni from Oz to SVU. Nobody plays badass better than Chris. His character in this sitcom seems like the same ol Chris, just with funny dialog and situations instead of his usual serious ones.

  3. Liv says:

Holy crap! “So take your clothes off right now and get your tight buns upstairs!” My thoughts exactly every time I see Chris Meloni!

  4. Anna says:

LOL. I’m so excited for this!

  5. I’ll give it a shot, but not at all sure about this.

  6. Ashley says:

Hollywood is really over doing it with 90s nostalgia

  13. Tara says:

Amazing differences in the reviews from the men and the women. I am in agreement with the women, who cares what the show is about. Bring back Chris!!!

  14. Zach says:

You don’t find Bill Lawrence, creator of Scrubs among other things, funny? Too bad for you. Cancellation is likely, but maybe TBS will pick it up.

  15. icy says:

I disagree, it’s something new and funny. It’s not another dumb remake

  16. joe says:

This i don’t understand. There wasn’t nearly enough shown to judge the show
