From One Tree Hill executive producers Mark Schwahn — who also wrote and directed the pilot — Brian Robbins and Joe Davola, the Hamlet-esque show follows a fictional British Royal family in modern-day London.

The series stars Hurley as Queen Helena, who comes into conflict with her head of security’s daughter (played by Ravenswood‘s Haley Lu Richardson) when the young woman begins a secret romance with Prince Liam (William Moseley, The Chronicles of Narnia films).

The cast also includes Vincent Regan (Strike Back), Alexandra Park (Home and Away), Tom Austen (The Borgias), Jake Maskall (EastEnders), Ukweli Roach and Oliver Milburn (the UK’s Mistresses).

The Royals will film in Great Britain and is slated to premiere on E! in 2015.

  1. Adele says:

Sounds intriguing and sexy. The E! thing however turns me off.

  2. Kaycee says:

Actually excited about this. Love Liz Hurley and was really rooting for William Mosley to get a series role! Bring this on, this feels like it’s gonna join Reign as my guilty pleasure.

  3. Steven says:

I’ve loved her since Austin Powers and the idea is interesting. I just wish it wasn’t on E!, but I’ll give it a chance.

  4. David says:

After One Tree Hill anything these guys are associated with I’m in!

    • Miffay says:

You do realize that One Tree Hill was a crappy show, right?

      • Joe says:

It was on for 9 years. Although you may have not enjoyed, it doesn’t mean that millions of other people did not.

        I am in as well.

      • David says:

No it really wasnt. OTH had a lot of heart and was probably the biggest underdog story in tv history. It has a significant following and had a great team behind it.

      • Jj says:

WTH are you talking about? It was awesome right up til season 6. Granted they should have ended it there, but writing off the first 6 seasons because of that is nothing short of pure stupidity!

  5. Marge Loughran says:

Good luck to Mark in his new series. Mark and his family are very good friends and he is super talented!

  6. D.F. says:

I’m going to take a wild guess and say that the episode titles–like One Tree Hill–are going to be named after songs, and that James Lafferty may special-guest star in one episode. Again, just a guess, but one can dream, can’t they?
