Tribes is described as a sweeping drama about the various mafia-esque monster families that, unbeknownst to humans, “run” the underbelly of Chicago. These families also are being tracked by a newly-minted hunter who’s trying to stop them and rid Chicago of anything or anyone supernatural.

Margo serves as the acting head of the leading shapeshifter clan. She’s an ex-punk rocker-turned-corporate professional who feels threatened only by the return of her prodigal brother David (played by Nathaniel Buzolic, The Originals).

Supernatural: Tribes Stephen MartinesAlso joining the project is Stephen Martines (Burn Notice, The Closer) as Detective Freddie Costa, a world-weary Chicago cop who serves as a mentor to Ennis (Episodes’ Lucien Laviscount) — aka the newbie hunter — but also is secretly on the payroll of one of the monster families.

Savre and Martines will both appear in this season’s 20th episode of Supernatural — aka Tribes’ de-facto pilot — airing April 29.

I was watching Bring it On: All or Nothing the other day and was literally wondering what happened to Danielle Savre! So happy she got this role.

  2. Peg says:

    “planted” spin-off?

    • Ashley says:

Meaning it’ll air as an episode of Supernatural later this season, then the spin-off will likely get a pickup as its own show. Like with The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles, et cetera. :)

  3. Is it me or is this backdoor pilot look pretty solid for a “go” before it’s even filmed? Maybe I just don’t pay attention to pilot season but this has Agents of SHIELD level of press releases.

Not that this is a bad thing. I’m just wondering if it’s that common.

    • Katie T says:

It’s fairly common for this amount of press for a spin off of another show or a show from a big writer. The spin off from Arrow, The Flash, is getting just as much press as this is. So it may be a case of If the CW plan to go with more than one spin off show for next year. If they just go with one then at the moment I’d put The Flash as slight favourite over this. But that’s purely guess work on the fact they seem to have got better known actors so far and the fact they changed the pilot from a planted one like for Tribes to a stand alone pilot as soon as they saw the positive reaction to Grant Gustin as Barry Allan when he appeared on Arrow

  4. Ashley says:

The cast looks solid so far. I haven’t watched Supernatural in years, but I’ll probably have to check this out.
