Pilot Scoop: Weeds' Romany Malco to Star in ABC Comedy From Kevin Hart

Romany Malco Kevin Hart ABC COmedyWeeds alum Romany Malco has nabbed the lead role in ABC’s untitled comedy pilot from comedian Kevin Hart, TVLine has learned.

The multi-camera comedy, which is based on Hart’s life and stand-up, asks the question: “Can a man and woman ever truly be friends… after they’re divorced?”

Malco will play Derek, a personal trainer and something of an entrepreneur who is a devoted dad to his two kids. He’s just gotten divorced from their mom, and agrees with her that it might be time for the two of them to try to be “friends,” for once.

Community‘s Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan penned the pilot and will exec-produce alongside Hart and Dave Becky.

Malco’s other TV credits include The Good Wife and No Ordinary Family.
