Jackman previously hosted the kudosfest from 2003-2005, winning an Emmy Award for his work in 2004 and earning a nomination the following year.

“Hugh is the ultimate performer – actor, singer and dancer – he does it all, second to none. He is a consummate entertainer and the one you want out there hosting your live television event,” said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events for CBS Entertainment, in a release.

Jackman’s most recent Broadway gig was 2011’s Hugh Jackman – Back on Broadway; he won the 2004 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for The Boy From Oz.

I think Hugh is great but after last year’s opening number I just don’t know how anyone will avoid being compared to the fantastic NPH. I still watch it every once in a while on YouTube. :)

  2. DreamRose311 says:

Really I think the dream is to just have NPH and Jackman cohost from now until forever.

  3. LibKat says:

Wow, with this announcement and Idina M. singing on the Oscars it’s a good day for theater fans! Hopefully we’ll also get some NPH on the Tony’s when he’s nominated for Hedwig.

  4. TL says:

The Tony Awards and The Kennedy Center Honors are two of the most entertaining shows all year. I look forward to them immensely! Kudos to CBS for airing these two gems!

    • TV Gord says:

Absolutely! Also, they have stuck with The Tonys even when the ratings were in the basement, so I think they deserve an extra pat on the back for that!

  5. JAO says:

He’s so good! Love the Tonys.
