Psych Out: USA Network Staple to Conclude in March After 8 Seasons, With Answer-Filled Finale

PsychI know, you know that this day was inevitable: Psych is coming to an end.

USA Network confirmed that the long-running comedy’s current eighth season will be its last; the closure-filled series finale — which I’m told will answer all of fans’ burning questions — will air on Wednesday, March 26 at 9/8c. It will be followed immediately by Psych After Show, a one-hour live remembrance/retrospective featuring a Q&A with the entire cast (including, of course, stars James Roday and Dule Hill) as well as series creator, Steve Franks.

Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network, in a statement. “The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series’ incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus.”

Don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus?! Are we talking a series of TV movies? A Broadway show? A cool farewell panel at Comic-Con? All of the above? As I investigate that little mystery, check out the parting gift James and Dule made this proud Psych-O below, then scroll down further to watch the pair’s farewell to fans, and then hit the comments with your Psych eulogies.

It can’t end I’m going to cry this is one of the only TV shows that all my family (from my lil bro to my grandma) watch together. I can;t end. :’( I’m crying now.

  3. Oh noooooooooo! Say it isn’t so!! I absolutely love Psych. It’s definitely on the same comedic levels as Parks n’ Recreation and The Office. And no one will ever be able to replace Shawn and Gus. -pouts with shimmering eyes- Bro Love, I’m going to miss them! Thank God for re-runs! Don’t go Gus! Don’t leave Shawn!!

So sad to see this show.

I am frustrated with this decision. We don’t have enough well acted, fun t.v. anymore. We don’t need another stupid “reality scripted” show and most of the new network shows are just garbage. Guess I’ll be watching BBC America from now on. USA just lost me for good.

Eh I don’t really care for white collar and suits might as well be days of our lives for the idiotic bs drama. It’s almost as retarded as the good wife. Oh psych you will be missed as with monk before you.

And subsequently the superstation won’t be getting any flipper time on the boob tube unless something interesting detective wise comes about.

Just leaves elementary, (don’t really care for the new girl in NCIS) person of interest, (mentalist has gone a bit down hill since they killed johnny) and sleepy hollow when it comes back. Gonna have to check out those other 2 shows and see if they’re any good. I liked the ambulance one and the robot cop partner one.

One of my favorite tv shows ever! It’s in the top 10 of all time faves, along with buffy, veronica mars, seinfeld, curb your enthusiasm, Monk, etc. There may be more than 10, but you know what I mean. One that lasts in your heart. Will always love you, Psych!

“Uh I’ve never–I’ve never lost anyone close to me before in my entire life.
Um Jesus, how stupid sad is this? People die it’s awful, and unfair.
And–and, oh, my God, Gus is gonna die.”
    “I’m not gonna die, Shawn.”
    This is true, (Personification).

I never saw an episode where I didn’t laugh out loud. Yes, the humor is immature and Shawn and Gus act like buffoons at times, but that’s why it’s so FUN. My wife and I will really miss this show. I hope USA reconsiders. Besides, they’ve cancelled Burn Notice and White Collar what else is there to watch on this network? Oh, and you high and mighty types who are too good for the rest of us and our buffoonish humor, take yourselves, and the sticks up your asses, and shuffle over to the Downton Abbey or Masterpiece Theatre websites and leave us Psych-Os to our grief.

Shaun, Gus, if you had the opportunity to return back to being on Psych and continuing your legacy, as detectives, would you ditch the offer or come back with, “Wait for it!” and so many more cases to solve right at your fingertip, just keep doing what you love though and I hope to see you both on the Movie Screen. 80
