  1. Hamish says:

Dumb, dumb move by ABC and BBC Worldwide Productions. They’ll go to prerecorded music and take some of the spontaneity out of the show.

    • Nancy says:

Harold Wheeler’s band is so talented! They are an integral part of the show.
      How Sad!!!

    • Windywillow says:

I loved Brooke as Tom’s co-host; and the band and singers sometimes outshined everyone else on the show. Go figure…leave it to the ones sitting in their offices to make these less than brilliant decisions that effect everyone ESPECIALLY THE VIEWERS. Take a bow you BOZOS and exit stage right. I for one loved the show just the way it is. +-(

  2. Kim R says:

They fired the band?!! The live music added to the whole ballroom experience. I can’t imagine why they made this decision. :(

  3. KCC says:

Thanks for the clip! Sesame Street really stays current, doesn’t it?

  4. Joey says:

Happy The Exes will be back for season 4 this summer.

  5. webly3 says:

YES! I, for one, think that the DWTS band was the most boring aspect about the show. The live singers usually annoyed me to death. I’m glad that they are making this move. I’d much rather just have background music of the original version playing so we can focus on the dance and not the weird version of the song.

  6. JIM says:

I only have one comment and one question.. !- if it aint broke don’t fix it and 2-

    • paula redinger says:

I agree with Jim….the band and singers were an added plus to the show. I guess it will be just like American Bandstand…dancing to prerecorded music!!! The show needs to pick stars that have the
same ability all around for better competition. they always pick 3-4 who can not really dance & then the judges cut them down & the next week they are gone!!! The show needs to “bump” up their step & bring in fresh new ideas. Firing the band????!!!!

  7. Do that many people truly care?

  8. jimbob says:

The problem with this show is that the audience has a vote. And lets face it they’ve run out of so called “stars”.

  9. Lynn says:

Has-beens, Never-was, and Wanna-be’s!!! There are no “stars” on DWTS!! And Brooke Baby Mama Waited Forever to Be Married Burke’s firing; just one question, Brooke: How does it feel to be dumped?! Now you’re on the other side of that stupid question!

    Good riddance!!

  10. joyce says:

I always thought the band was excellent and the singers superb. My first thought was this is all about money. I dont thnk Brooke will be missed, but the band sure will.

  11. Karen Bice says:

I am not surprised the ratings are dropping, it is supposed to be a family oriented show, some of low class people who get on there, the multitude of bleeped words, sexual comments and tirades, you get enough of that in real life. The band is wonderful, the singers are so talented, Brooke is very high class, Bruno is disgusting, Len and Carrie Ann are great, Tom is borderline. Even some of your pros need some behind the wood shed time. You tell me who needs to go? I really do love the dancing and hope the show carries on, just needs some minor changes.

    • Rudy says:

Great commentary Karen. Yes, Bruno should go. What a silly ‘stand up and look at me’ child. The band should stay only if they come up with music that invokes the spirit of the dance. Not totally obliterate it.

    • Jeneane says:

Glad to see Brooke go. She had no flair. Love Tom. He is so quick on his feet! No pun intended. Would love to see new judges or at least a new one now and then. Marie Osmond would be wonderful co-host, someone with personality. I thought Samantha Harris was bad but Brooke was worse. Maybe they should get Charlie White and Merl Davis. Too bad about the band. I thought they were great. I have watched every season but they certainly do need to change things up a bit. I miss the Macey’s Stars of Dance. But I did think one night was sufficient.

  12. Sophia says:

wow, what these shows do it is really ridiculous. First of all Brooke was pretty , and did a great job, fire her, that is awful. Then they ax the band, just keeps getting better and better (Not better really just a FIGURE OF SPEECH). Now their ratings will fall, Just my opinion..

  13. Darla Cook says:

The only reason I can come up with as far as firing the band is saving $$ … I think they were excellent and quite honestly did not think of them much as I was watching the dance and not the musicians… I don’t think they hardly ever really showed them onscreen except when they acknowledged them each week… I really have no opinion about Brooke… certainly she is not a reason for any ratings dip or climb… that part has always pretty much been basically stick a pretty woman in there who can at least talk/interact with the contestants as they wait for their scores… There are tons of those women to pick from… I have pretty much watched the show off and on all seasons greatly dependent who the contestants are… there have been seasons where I have never heard of many of the contestants as they are “personalities.” …. I usually don’t even watch when that is the case… I think , especially after this many years it has gotten harder to get celebrities to accept the invite to participate… most major and real stars do not have the time to devote to such a thing… or maybe they are resting up between doing another movie or another season of their series…. many may just plain not want to dance either because they don’t care to dance or they fear it is a little too far outside their box…. I honestly don’t know if they actually pay the stars or not… I guess I was under the assumption that they didn’t and it was just a competition where they wanted to compete, step outside their comfort zone, challenge themselves, learn something new, have fun and yes for some have their name thrown out there again to let people know they are still alive…If there are a few people I like, know of and/or have an interesting story to them I am more likely to watch…I certainly agree with the person who mentioned how they usually have several that should never be there in the first place… that is not only the older folks that obviously, while decent sometimes have no chance of making it near the end… on the other hand I also don’t like the ones that have obviously had some kind of dance experience… say all you want that ballroom dancing is different but if a person has dance experience of some kind they are much more comfortable with moving their bodies…I also think that the audience vote should count as less…many times , like other shows, it is simply a popularity test… a good looking person is going to get more votes because of that even if they are a decent dancer… sometimes a “star” may be a pretty good dancer but gets bounced earlier because they are not as attractive, don’t have the bubbly personality or are not as well known so don’t have the following that others have…. I also have thought that the pros get paid more the longer they stay in the competition… sometimes I think that when they are eliminated they are kinda added to the “troupe” to do special dances throughout the rest of the season… As far as the judges I wouldn’t mind if they brought in some new ones…. I do laugh still at some of their antics but they are a distraction anymore… I am tired of Carrie drooling over the guys, Len being his crotchety self and even Bruno overexaggerating every word he says… a change from them might be very welcome… I think Tom Bergeron is great and he is the one constant that the show needs and if he left it is highly doubtful I would watch although I suppose it would depend some on who took over , but I can’t see anyone but him being the main host…

    • Lynn says:

They all get paid; pros and “stars.” The further they progress in the competition, the more money they can make. The pros receive only a fraction of what “the stars” receive. There have been a few “stars” who’ve donated their earnings to a favorite charity. But I suppose if you’re a washed up, irrelevant has-been or never-was, then you need the money for yourself.

Remember when Kate Gosselin was on the show? People were saying: Well she’s got to do something to feed all those kids! Same with Palin’s daughter. That’s why fans kept her in there for so long so she could earn more money to take care of her son. The Palin girl and Rob Kardashian each took home more than 200K.

I stopped watching regularly during the season when the Palin girl beat out Brandy to advance in the competition.

On DWTS, if you don’t have a large fan base, you have no chance of advancing to the later rounds! Dancing seems to have very little to do with determining the winner.

    • Jackie Cain says:

I don’t know why Brooke was fired. I have no opinion on that one way or the other. The band is excellent. Remember, they don’t choose the music; they just have to perform it. Maybe some is not perfect but for the most part they are great. I do like the judges. Bruno could tone down some. Carrie Ann’s reaction t hot guys is a natural response. Len’s grumpiness is a little much at times but he maintains a sense of humor. The judges know dancing and that’s what is important. I love the show. I have watched it from the very beginning and I still enjoy it. Tom Bargeron is a great host. I do not judge anyone. Comments on class are inappropriate in my opinion. My one real criticism of the show is that viewers who don’t know how to judge dancing have a vote. This makes it a popularity contest instead of a dance contest. If viewers are going to have a vote, it should count for a much smaller percentage. Many of the best dancers are eliminated early while some of the worst dancers stay much too long. I would like to see that changed.

  14. P lyon says:

Dancing with the stars but where are the stars seems like anyone in the news is consider a star palin’s daughter was no star neither was cher’s son they daughter and son of stars although Sara palin’s was no star just a canidate for Vice President they need to get real stars

  15. George Lessard says:

I’ve been a faithful follower of DWTS since it’s inception. I can understand them replacing Broke Burke-Chauvet for another co-host if it’s warranted, but to eliminate the live music as Dancing executive producer Conrad Green noted that recorded music sometimes makes more sense, it utterly stupid. First of all, this is suppose to be Ballroom Dancing. Even Harold Wheeler’s choice of music was sometimes questionable, but at least it was live music. I’ll watch the first episode and if I think it’s been degraded by ABC’s and BBC’s ludicrous actions, then I’ll just stop watching it think of the show as just a good memory while it lasted.

  16. deb says:

Well, it was bound to happen. Ratings have been falling. I quit watching halfway through last season. And I had watched from the beginning. Without the band and singers, I probably won’t watch at all this seson.

  17. DD says:

Let the judges score account for 75% of the total and give the audiance 25% to keep the good dancers in the competion

  18. niecie says:

I have watched DWTS since it first started and lately the stars coming on has been boring and that is evident because the ratings are low. Talking about the ratings, it’s going to get even lower because the BAND and SINGERS were excellent!!. Also, ratings are low because you first let the people judge and people judge on popularity and not ability. Many people stopped watching when you knew someone stunk and couldn’t dance and the people voted them to stay on. That is why American Idol is going to phase out, they won’t let PROFESSIONAL judges decide on the talent, they let the people judge and that can’t last and that is why DWTS will not last, and now the band, well don’t be surprised if we don’t see them again after 2014. P.S. Whoever is in charge at DWTS better go back to the table because with what you have done, it won’t work.

  19. Rudy says:

I was a huge fan of DWTS. My forever complaint has been, the music doesn’t match the dance. When they played Micheal Jackson’s “Thriller” to a Paso Doble, that turned me off. It killed the spirit of the Spanish Dance. They say they can’t get copyrights to play certain music. Well then, why have a band at all? It’s like mixing gas with water. And half the so-called ‘Stars’ I’ve never heard of. But getting rid of Brooke? Stupid move ABC. You should reconsider. She is the most beautiful and gracious co-host, ever!

  20. Dori says:

I have been a faithful DWTS since the first season. Yes I agree that Brook Burke Charvet needs to go, She is too phoney. She interrupts the dancers when they talk. Too bad she is not as good as she thinks she is. But the band???? Are you kidding me? Harold Wheeler and the band are superb…they are right on the money. They don’t miss a beat. Get rid of the singers the show does not need them. We all know the songs, don’t need singers. Tom Bergeron is the greatest MC of all. He keeps everything going. He is very funny. As far as the professional dancers are concerned, they are awesome. When they all get out there and dance the routines they have created, they are GREAT!!! It is true that some of the celebrity dancers are not very good. I think they are intimated by other celebrity dancers. But they give it their all. To have a celebrity that is not good at all and they don’t get voted off, then when they vote the good ones off, this is not fair to them. The dancing needs to be a little bit more balanced across the board. On the judges, I like Len, and he has gotten better on some of his critizing as being so mean and disrespectful and making fun of them….what do they expect….Bruno need to clean his mouth up…there are chidren in the audience and he needs to quit flurting with the guys. Cary Ann seems t think that she is the only one who knows dancing….she trys to overrule the other judges. I do not like pre-recorded music. We want it live. Are you running out of money so you want to relace the band? It is not to late to rehire the band.

    • michael houdek says:

dws has become nothing more then a popularity contest let the judges do their job, and if you want to save money you only need one host.

  21. Francis Hubel says:

I really love the show, but the method of judging, needs to be changed.
The most talented dancer, usually wins, but too many really good dancers, get eliminated ,too early, because they don’t have a big fan base. To fix this, have the home voters, vote for the one who should be eliminated.that way, they wouldn’t be voting for their favorite, but more likely, for the worst dancer. After all, it is a dance contest, and not a personality contest.
