Exclusive Goldbergs Video: Barry and Adam Tackle the When Harry Met Sally Question

The Goldbergs channels the ’80s rom-com classic When Harry Met Sally this Tuesday (ABC, 9/8c) when Barry doubts whether his little brother can really be just friends with tomboy Emmy.

“She’s like a sibling — except I like her,” protests Adam in the following exclusive video.

But Barry knows, thanks to his encyclopedia, that it’s just a matter of time before Adam and his pal start making out. (Also in his dubious encyclopedia: Girls can’t resist whale sounds.)

    There is a problem this episode. Adam is playing Contra with his friend. That game came out in 1987. The show seems to be set in that year from what I can tell (they also reference Top Gun – released in 1986). However, Adam rents When Harry Met Sally, which was released in 1989. Back then movies would not come out on video until at least a year after it left theaters. With this in mind the episode would have had to taken place in 1990-91. The episode is not accurate with regards to the referenced time frame.
