  • What an incredibly stupid idea for a tv show! Whoever made this happen needs to be punched in the neck. Repeatedly. Until it’s canceled. Then he (it had to be a guy) needs to be banned from television forever.

    • Some of us, me included, participated in this sport and would of loved for it to get the exposure this show is going to give it. We might of actually been able to make some money at our passion. Don’t knock something just because it is not your “sport”. Give it a break. You can always turn the channel. As for me, a former World and National Champion…I can’t WAIT!!!

      • … might *have … Anyhow, I certainly won’t knock the sport of arm-wrestling, but I will certainly knock this show and its portrayal of arm wrestling. I hope that’s not how it actually goes down at least. Do you guys really arm wrestle in front of a “crowd” of 20 (half of them being the team and their relatives) in shady abandoned buildings with refs worse than last year’s temporary NFL officials? The “drama” they’re going for is lost complete on me as a contrivance.

Could it be you? I think so. like everyone else has said, if you don’t like what you see on TV, turn the channel and watch something else. As for me, I plan to DVR the program, EVERY EPISODE. Has it really gotten to a point where we are trying to find entertainment value by filming people arm wrestling? Im not attacking you people who DO happen to like this show, I just think this show is dumbing down audiences and is an abomination to TV just like Honey Boo Boo.

I have been arm wrestling for about 28 years and know almost every1 in this show. It’s sad that so many are so ignorant. I have met All of my best friends thru this sport ,and the sport is more of a HUGE family more than just friends. • See a lot of negative comments from people who have no idea what they are talking about. These are real people with a passion for a sport that really is quite technical and takes a lot of strength . You have to be mentally strong with the ability to adapt per different opponent . Maybe people shouldn’t judge so quickly when they have no idea what’s actually happening. The trash talking is for the show because the network wants them to do it.

  • If ignorance is bliss all these remedial degenerates throwing out negativity must be in “heaven”. I’ve been arm wrestling for about 6yrs now and luv it more than any other sport I’ve participated in. As a comrade of mine above said (Tommy) this sport is way, more like a brother hood than just a non main stream sport. I would dare any critic to give it a shot and see how long u can hang. This sport has been, around for centuries and will continue with or without this show. But give it a chance these are good intelligent intellectual morally upstanding everyday ppl!

  • Bunch of negative jerks out there who know nothing about armwrestling!!!! Yes steroids are in armwrestling, they are in how many other sports?? Majority of the armwrestling world is clean, steroids are for those who can’t make it on sweat & pain…this sport is most of the peoples passion & love, more goes into what you see in these clips as you all will see when it aires!!! If you have nothing nice to say, then do us all a favor who actually care about armwrestling a favor & shut up. I bet half of the clowns who left a negative response couldn’t even beat some of the women who compete!!!! That’s real & I would bet money on that. As a 25+ year veteran of armwrestling, I cannot wait for this show to air, change the channel if it doesn’t appeal to you, this is not for everyone…

  • What you saw in the commercial without even knowing it; a teacher, a laborer, a salesman, a chef, an engineer, a police officer and multiple business owners. Lot of successful men, but more, lots of family men in those commercials.

Those guys are spending their weekends like so many others you know; yardwork, volunteering, coaching, and when they get time practicing. Do you call your neighbor “white trash”?

Like many have said, the sport is a huge family. When you insult the men in the commercial, it is like you are insulting people in my family. You have no idea about any of these men, you should watch the show…you’ll probably be surprised how familiar they are.

i bet everyone of these lowns have chosen their own life over their own families and kids. pathetic. i knew an armwrestler who gave up his whole family for this ridiculous wanna be sport.
he was high on steroids the whole time. now after 20 years he is clean and a good citizen. he wished he never got into that family you morons speak of.
this is a cult and a really pathetic idea for a show. this rates right along the lines of
honey boo boo and the other white trash shows that are on.

Comment by Chase – January 30, 2014 09:33 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Wow Chase that’s a pretty strong comment based on “knowing a person” because I know lots of people in this sport and if anything they bring their families along. These guys (that we know and deal with) all work and many have college degrees (which you will not find on honey boo boo) some have wives, some have children and some don’t but they can all come together at the table. They have even built kids tables so that the kids can participate and after the matches everyone shakes hands and moves on. Sure there is smack talking but that happens everywhere and could be in good fun at times. I challenge you to find a group of these guys and hang out with them, I’m sure you will have a change of heart. And your I know a guy well we all know a guy/girl who made a bad choice and had that bad choice amplified by drugs or alcohol but that’s not what happens for everyone and you know it. And as far as saying its a cult, cults take weak minds to join and all the people in this sport I know have strong willed minds for dedication and hard work. No room for followers in this sport so I would say that this person you know just has a predisposition for weakness which is why he left his family, which is why he did drugs and is ultimately the reason he did not make it in arm wrestling. So good luck to all the guys on GOA and my hubby Jason who is the best looking ref on the show and may all the haters do what they do best hate and change the channel!

    • Stacy, I love your reply. I don’t understand how people make judgements without knowing facts or even the circumstances that go along with a subject. I have a family of “arm wrestling” friends that I have met over the years. There are none better. I will defend this sport with my dying breath. Probably one of the best things that ever happened to me. I can’t wait to watch the show.

  • Great to see amc supporting a man that assaulted and elderly man and is now being sued for it. I’m sure that won’t be anywhere in the show though.

Comment by tessa – February 5, 2014 03:13 PM PDT  Reply To This Post

Comment by Stacy – February 5, 2014 05:30 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Too many people come on here to blast AMC for getting the ball rollingbon this. If any of the negative response people actually took the time to meet some of the armwrestling community, they would change their minds. We take this very serious, as do any other athlete would feel about their sport. If you have nothing nice to stay, go back to your boring life & critique something else… Anxiously awaiting the show to air!!

Comment by TeamEdwardJace – February 19, 2014 09:26 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Dear TeamEdwardJace I’m sure you will find this show vacuous and dull since there are no vampires or 1/2 angles involved. It’s no Twilight or Mortal Instruments but it’s REAL so I’m sure your type would have issues with it. So go back to watching Grim and Once upon a time and you will be ok. :)

Comment by Stacy – February 19, 2014 10:02 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I competed for 20 years in this sport and believe me it’s anything but dull my friend. Most people who give it a try never stop because of the comradery found in the sport. You’ll never find a better group of people. In all my years on the circuit I never witnessed a punch thrown, only great competition and friends. Retired in 2005 due to an injury or I’d still be at it.

  • Such a stupid idea for a show. Being a good arm wrestler doesn’t make you a tough guy. It means you probably juice and hit the gym and practise this “sport”. It is the douchebag juicers from high school that always got beat up because they went looking for fights.

Comment by Pt – February 25, 2014 03:33 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • That is such a stupid assumption that I can’t even come up with a reply, maybe you should stick to sports where steroids are not allowed such as baseball lol! Oh right there are steroids everywhere so your point is invalid. Plus my husband is on the Baton Rouge team and has never done steroids, neither have most of the other guys that I am aware of (I saw most because I am never so stupid as to say all in anything), so please watch the show before you let your stupidity shine on a public forum. Thanks!

Comment by Stacy – February 25, 2014 03:59 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • All of you calling this a sport. Arm wrestling is not a sport. It takes no athletic ability to do bicep curls and then push your arm forward harder than someone else. Anyone can arm wrestle if you lift enough.

Comment by M.e. – February 25, 2014 08:33 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Ok! Your stupid is showing. 1st you don’t push it forward, you push it to the side and since you can’t even watch this without screwing up how to do it then it’s prob best you don’t participate in this SPORT! And if you would ever like to prove your theory that anyone can do it reply back to this post and I’ll give you my number then I’ll find the nearest group of armwrestlers to you and after they educate you on how wrong you are you can apologize. 😊

Comment by Stacy – February 25, 2014 09:04 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I don’t believe you!. If you don’t even know the terms used in this SPORT then you don’t qualify to make stupid comments about it. I was an arm wrestler for 9 years. a good one, too. It is a sport, and one that is filled with families and fans that LOVE IT. I wish I could show you how to “push my arm”. It is not the brawn alone, it takes brains, techniques, and just “how bad you want it”, to succeed.

Comment by Carolyn Liebel Pyle – February 25, 2014 09:14 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • I watched the first show and… The guys were lifting there elbow off the table moving there elbows. There be less cheat If they do it laying down on the ground. I am not impressed. There is gambling in this sport. It might be rigged. The fat drunk guy on the show admitted to letting his dad win in a tournament

Comment by Aaron weeks – February 26, 2014 07:21 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Well Aaron I’ll have to disagree.. I thought the show was very intertaining for all, not only armwrestlers but anyone. They’ve added some extra drama to the whole situation for entertainment value but those matches were real. You’re allowed to move your elbow anywhere on the pad as long as it doesn’t raise up and sometimes if no advantage is gained refs will even let that slide. You can also move around all you want as long as one foot remains on the floor. Standing adds many more usable techniques than just shoving with your arm. It would be like like boxers laying on the ground punching each other without being able to move around. (Not much to watch) There used to be seated tournaments that did limit movement but they are rare these days.

Comment by Joe Dutton – February 26, 2014 10:05 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I am sure that it is not the only sport that it rigged though…
