Get More: TCA Press Tour

Veronica Mars Spin-OffVeronica Mars is headed back to The CW — sort of.

“The Veronica Mars movie got it going,” Pedowitz said. “Rob Thomas is very excited about doing this at CW Seed.”

Pedowitz added that Thomas has a germ of an idea for the offshoot but “he hasn’t committed to any concept or characters yet.”

There’s no specific timetable yet, but the web series will launch after the V Mars movie hits theaters on March 14 and, according to reports, will consist of roughly eight 10-minute episodes.

  • Even though I’m very happy to hear that the CW is ordering a Veronica Mars spin-off, but why now? Cause they finally realized that Veronica Mars had so much fans and they’ve made a mistake all these years ago?!

    • The people who currently run the CW weren’t responsible for VM’s cancellation.

      • Well, it wasn’t the fans!!! And I, personally, can’t name anything Rob has done decent since the show was on! (They gave “Cupid” a remake, & it fell flatter than a dropped arrow.)

        • It kind of was as they stopped watching and ratings tanked.

          • Blame the network for that!! (Show named after female lead character… Moved around schedule… Ratings tank & show ends… Are we discussing “Nikita”?!)

        • He developed 2008′s 90210. Would have been nice though if he stayed on as EP.

          • Perhaps he did stay on as an EP. (Meaning a Producer who managed to Escape from that Titanic-level train wreck.)

  • Too little too late.

Much rather have a Netflix spinoff. CW is trash.

  • This doesn’t sound very promising to me. Either it’s Veronica Mars or it’s not.

  • I got all excited about this…until I saw “The CW”. I understand that the current executives at the network had nothing to do with the show’s cancellation back in 2007, but I still feel like the series (web or otherwise) deserves a superior network. But who knows? If the movie is a success, there will be even more potential for the future of the series.

  • Viva the Revolution — The power of the people — and the idiots at CW with egg on there faces for allowing such a great show to go so wrong so wrong — I wonder how many exec’s are now being told to look at other shows that were cancelled like Veronica Mars — and rush them back before either to movie or TV before Netflix or cable can profit from them….
