Veronica Mars is headed back to The CW — sort of.
Network president Mark Pedowitz announced Wednesday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that a spin-off of the original TV series is being developed for The CW’s digital arm, CW Seed.
“The Veronica Mars movie got it going,” Pedowitz said. “Rob Thomas is very excited about doing this at CW Seed.”
Pedowitz added that Thomas has a germ of an idea for the offshoot but “he hasn’t committed to any concept or characters yet.”
There’s no specific timetable yet, but the web series will launch after the V Mars movie hits theaters on March 14 and, according to reports, will consist of roughly eight 10-minute episodes.
