What to Watch Tonight: Idol, Suburgatory and 2 Other Premieres, Criminal Flashback and More

SuburgatoryOn TV this Wednesday: American Idol kicks off another star search, the Suburgatory premiere walks a solo road, Criminal Minds has a Pains-ful run-in with an ex and CSI might want to call in the TSA. 8 pm American Idol (Fox) | Two-hour Season 13 premiere: The star-making musical competition is back with a revamped judges’ table – featuring returnee Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and fresh blood Harry Connick Jr. (see photo) – and the first round of auditions in Boston and Austin. 8 pm Melissa & Joey (ABC Family) | Midseason premiere: Austin returns looking for another chance with Mel – does Joe stand a chance?

8:30 pm Suburgatory (ABC) | Season 3 premiere: Alex disappears, George introduces Tessa to his new dog (who winds up in Sheila Shay’s crosshairs), and Dalia shuns Dallas for breaking up with Daddy Altman. Natasha Leggero (Burning Love) guest-stars.

8:30 pm Baby Daddy (ABC Family) | Season 3 premiere: Ben and Riley work on being a couple; Angela tries to prove she’s a responsible parent.

9 pm Law & Order: SVU (NBC) | When he shoots and gravely wounds a teenage suspect, Amaro must decide if the resulting professional and public scrutiny is worth it for himself and his family. Also: Cragen makes a surprise announcement… which may not be such a big surprise if you’ve read this.

9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | Gloria deals with a mean girl mom (30 Rock‘s Jane Krakowski) at a high school open house, Mitchell runs into his judgmental, environmentalist neighbor (The Social Network‘s Jesse Eisenberg) and Alex sees a therapist (The Big C‘s John Benjamin Hickey).

10 pm CSI (CBS) | A petty crime aboard an inbound plane to Vegas turns into a murder investigation when a passenger is found dead. Joel Grey (Cabaret), Jaleel White (Family Matters) and Ethan Embry (Once Upon a Time) guest-star.

10 pm Men at Work (TBS) | Season 3 premiere: Neal wants to propose to Amy but must first get her dad’s consent (and that’s no easy feat).

  • Wednesday’s a killer. Revolution, Arrow, Criminal Minds, The Tomorrow People (special guest tonight Robert Gant!!!), Nashville, Chicago PD and Coven. Not sure why I’m still tuning in to Coven, this season is a hot mess of awful but Jessica Lange makes it worthwhile :-)

  • They should find a new female judge for “Idol” that knows something herself about writing & recording music well. Even alumnus Carrie coming back (after disaster that was “Sound… Live” would be better than JLow-quality!!… Also, why the links to “Nashville” articles, but I see no mention of it in this article itself?!
