The network has ordered a comedy pilot created by and starring funnyman Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover films, Bored to Death) that he’ll co-write with Louis C.K., creator and star of its Emmy-winning Louie.
FX did not provide any details about a possible premise or title.
The pilot order marks the first venture in FX’s recently announced overall deal with C.K. and his production company Pig Newton, and was announced by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, the Presidents of Original Programing for FX Networks and FX Productions.
C.K. announced back in the fall of 2012 that the network had granted him an extended hiatus leading up to Season 4 of Louie, a break that would allow him time to deliver the best possible product and to spend time on his standup career. The show is expected to return to the air in May, and as the comic recently shared with Jerry Seinfeld on Crackle’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, he envisions his eponymous series running “seven or eight years, tops.”
