A&E Lifts Suspension on Duck Dynasty Patriarch, Says Show Is Not 'About One Man's Views'

Phil Robertson Leaving Duck DynastyPhil Robertson‘s “indefinite hiatus” from A&E’s Duck Dynasty has come to an end.

The cabler announced Friday that Robertson will be part of the popular reality show when it resumes production this spring.

The 67-year-old Duck Commander founder was removed from the show in mid-December after a GQ profile quoted him saying that being gay is a “sin” and comparing it to bestiality.

“While Phil’s comments made in the interview reflect his personal views based on his own beliefs, and his own personal journey, he and his family have publicly stated they regret the ‘coarse language’ he used and the misinterpretation of his core beliefs based only on the article,” A&E said in a statement, reiterating that the network does not espouse those beliefs.

“But Duck Dynasty is not a show about one man’s views. It resonates with a large audience because it is a show about family… a family that America has come to love. As you might have seen in many episodes, they come together to reflect and pray for unity, tolerance and forgiveness. These are three values that we at A+E Networks also feel strongly about.”

After Robertson’s suspension, the family at the center of the series released a statement saying it could not imagine the show moving forward without him. In a TVLine reader poll, 68 percent of respondents said A&E was wrong to suspend Robertson.

The network added that it had consulted advocacy groups, as well as the Robertson family, before making its decision.

My goodness! I am a Christian and I agree with Phil. The only comment I have to put on here is that the person conducting the interview asked Phil his OPINION, and he gave it. Plain and simple. Don’t ask someone their opinion, then beat them down because they answer honestly.
