What to Watch Friday: Lucy Loves Christmas, a Nikita Confession, Bang! Bang! Finale and More

i-love-lucy-in-colorOn TV this Friday: I Love Lucy has a colorful Christmas, Five-0, The Carrie Diaries and Blue Bloods break for the holidays and Hugh Jackman hosts Christmas in Washington. Here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm The Carrie Diaries (The CW) | Fall finale: Carrie is delighted to interview the CEO of Bongo Jeans… until she learns this is her last chance to land a piece in Interview.

8 pm I Love Lucy (CBS) | Special presentation: For the first time ever, two classic installments — the seldom-seem “Christmas Episode” and “Lucy’s Italian Movie” — will air in color.

8 pm Christmas in Washington (TNT) | Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine) hosts the annual spectacular, which this time around includes performances by the Backstreet Boys, Sheryl Crow, Pitch Perfect’s Anna Kendrick and others. And unlike last year’s Les Misérables, the camera will stay a good distance away from Jackman’s nostrils.

8 pm It’s a Wonderful Life (NBC) | Celebrate the season with this Christmas classic, in which a suicidal man’s spirits are lifted by his guardian angel.

I laughed out loud reading this captions “It’s a Wonderful Life (NBC) | Celebrate the season with this Christmas classic, in which a suicidal man’s spirits are lifted by his guardian angel.”

  6. GuessWhat says:

The classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” for me. Finally. Glad it didn’t get bumped again by the umpteenth airing of the non-classic “Sound of Music Live.”

And will DVR the classic “I Love Lucy” eps — even though not a fan of colorization!

  7. Prue says:

    Carrie Diaries

  8. Joey says:

  12. webly3 says:

Nothing for me tonight! I will be binge-watching Veronica Mars on DVR instead (from Soapnet reruns – really the only good thing about the channel leaving television in a week).

  13. Barb says:

Lucy – this is what I call true comedy; nothing like it today (just wish they hadn’t colorized it).

  14. Jared says:

    The Carrie Diaires

  15. Gerry says:

Anyone who watches Nikita, should have seen the original Le Femme Nikita, that was a show, this is a poor imitation of it.

Birch fire, hi-test egg nog and It’s A Wonderful Life. Perfect.

    • Television Scout says:

CBS is rebroadcasting this Friday, Dec. 20th airing of the I Love Lucy Christmas special on Wednesday, Christmas evening, Dec 25th at 8pm. For those who may have missed the Friday airing, here’s a second chance to see the colorized version.

For those with tablets/iPads and who like ‘second-screen’ viewing of television shows, the original 1956 black & white version of this episode is on YouTube. It is the 1989 CBS rebroadcast version of the episode, shown at that time in its original black & white before being colorized for the 1990 broadcast during the holidays.

This YouTube version shows just the first full scene, but may be fun to watch in parallel with the colorized version on CBS on Wednesday/tomorrow to compare/contrast the two versions.
