Good Wife Sneak Peek: Alicia vs. Will, Round 2! Plus: Eli Investigates a Scandalous Baby Bump

When The Good Wife resumes Season 5 on Sunday, Jan. 5, the new year will further explore the prickly new dynamic between Alicia and Will, who again will find themselves squaring off against each other in the courtroom, while Eli frets that his baby Peter theory will pan out.

As seen in the fresh crop of photos below, as the Florrick Agos holiday gathering parties on, Alicia and Cary will come to represent a band (led by The Bridge‘s Mathew Lillard and Christopher Fitzgerald) suing a TV show for copyright infringement. The proceedings hit a sour note when Will joins Dar Adal on the opposing counsel, using his knowledge of Alicia’s strengths and weaknesses against her.

Also in the acclaimed CBS drama’s winter premiere, Eli — having just delivered an epic spit-take upon hearing that mom-to-be Marilyn will name her baby “Peter” — hires Kalinda to snoop around, hoping to get ahead of a potential scandal.

Alicia vs Will, FA vs LG, i am getting tired of it, they put themselves in that corder, they should find a way to get out!

    • Tenney says:

I am also getting tired of Alicia vs Will, FA vs LG. Come on, can’t FA go up against someone else in court? I mean, this is Chicago, there must be at least one other lawfirm! And, I have to say it…. more Cary please….

      • Jouy says:

Yes, but this show wouldn’t show us other law firms in Chicago since these two are the ones on which the show is centered. There is a sensible assumption on the part of the audience that other law firms and cases do exist.

      • Dee says:

Agree with you. Alicia & Will have run their course and FA should have some of their own cases besides going up against LG. Most of all, I agree that we still need more Cary!

    • Ange says:

The same thought entered my mind. I understand pitting them against one another but Will does not play nice. Probably because he knows Alicia is a better lawyer and always wins using the law. Either way I am growing tired of this constant back and forth

  2. soulfooder says:

they could actually surprise us and have an episode where those two factiosn are forced to work with each other on a case… cause counting points is becoming really boring!

  3. Lucy says:

Could they focus on other conflicts and relationships besides the “Will/Alicia” one? Do they know that not every single TGW Fan is a WIlicia shipper?

  4. Sam says:

Ha Dar Adal — mixing shows much? I think you mean F. Murray Abraham…

  5. Danyelle says:

Obligatory comment about how Cary is “overlooked” though he’s in most of the photos.

    • Lucy says:

Kings and PR people know how to mock Cary fans. He has been in most of the photos for almost every episode. But it didn’t change his “just a tool without a decent script” status. How much do you want to bet that he won’t have anything relevant to say during that trial besides “objection!”? Wonderful way to give Matt Czuchry a chance to be noticed for something else besides his looks and his ties. He’s nothing than a good looking furniture for those writers. They did pair him with Alicia, but it looks like they did put him in every scene with her only for decorative purposes because the poor guy didn’t have nothing meaningful to do or to say in the last….10 episodes? It’s now obvious that the only purpose of that FA vs LG thing was to put Alicia and Will against each other in every episode to give them something new to do. The Year of Cary. Yeah. Really.

    • Dee says:

Well, so far Cary has been in more scenes this year but that’s about it. Still waiting for the Kings to make good on their promises for a meaningful Cary presence. Not just Cary, the one that makes mistakes that Alicia corrects. They seem to forget that Cary organized the new firm long before Alicia came aboard. Let’s see how the second half of the season turns out for all of us who do not watch the show just for Will & Alicia.

      • Lucy says:

According to the previous two seasons I don’t think things will change for Cary (and Matt Czuchry). I suppose they think that’s the best Cary and Matt can have: more time on screen but always in the background and with nothing special to do.
I miss the SA years when Cary kicked ass in court. When he had interesting dynamics with other characters and his own course, when he had his great kickass moments and when Matt actually had great material, even if with less screentime. I miss the old writers who actually KNEW how to write about him.
Now we have more time but less quality. And it became pretty boring. Ten episodes and I can name one single exciting thing about Cary’s storyline this year. And there’s nothing about him I look forward too. He was there. And that’s all. He’s just a tool they used to give Willicia new life, to give Josh Charles Emmy material and to give Alicia HER new firm.
I don’t think they have great esteem for Matt Czuchry or they would have done a lot better in those ten episodes, especially because they have a big chance to do it and because they’ve failed at it so miserably the previous seasons. The fact that even a Florrick&AGOS firm storyline wasn’t enough to finally give Cary (and Matt Czuchry) a real leading role, speaks volumes about how much they value the actor and his character.

        • Dee says:

I think that the Kings love Matt Czuchry. They and the writers just need to utilize him correctly. He is a tremendous asset to TGW. It is sometimes painful to see him underused though.

          • Lucy says:

Just words and nothing concrete on screen in the last 3 years. And after 3 years didn’t they know how to use him? Really? Even now with an entire storyline centred on HIS new firm? Nah. I think they just want Cary to stay underused. Come on, the best plot that Robert King could conceive this year for him was to pair him with another Cary. And that storyline had asbolutely no purpose, didn’t give anything to do to Cary and didn’t give any good material to Matt Czuchry. I don’t think they love him so much considering how they always managed to leave him without a decent storyline and without material. Yeah.So much love.

Baby Peter makes me want to vomit. If that is seriously his baby, this guy is dumb as hell. Like, my god, stop putting your thing in other peoples things and thank the universe that you’re not in jail anymore.

  7. stevie says:

i love the whole will/diane vs alicia/cary dynamic.
i hope they stick with it.just when they decided to drop the whole willicia fiasco the show got so much better.

  8. Lena says:

So what is Will going to do? Spend the majority of his time stalking Alicia because his feelings are hurt? He shouldn’t be on the opposing end of EVERY case she has. Seriously…

  9. Joy says:

I love where the show is going. And for real fans, we all understand that the King’s like to take their time with things. I’d give it a few more episodes before this War of the Firms comes to a head.

Plus they have to build up to the inevitable meeting between Alicia and Will, while balancing the also inevitable build up of Peter’s next public scandal.

This article is awesome, just what I needed to help get me over the hiatus hump.

  10. Deion says:

Will is going to continue to take all the shots at Alicia that he can. He wanted her to ascend to Diane’s position. To stand beside him in power, even of she would be with him. Alicia leaving the firm stuck a knife deeper into Will than anyone. Don’t expect to see that drama end soon, even as LG and its characters move on, Will going to be focused on her.

  11. Reeya says:

More Will and Alicia please! Against, together, whatever. They are amazing in their scenes together no matter what they do.What else is there to watch in the show? Eli and david Lee are hilarious and Diane is awesome but you cant run the show around them! Cary of course should have more powerful scenes..poor guy has been sidetracked..

  12. Saabgirlatx says:

Ok does Marilyn look way more prego in that pic than she did in the last episode? Like she’s gone from first trimester to third in a day.

  13. kenara says:

I have to agree. The whole Alicia vs Will should have already been resolved because it’s starting to get a little redundant. I thought it had been wrapped up with Episode 10 but now it’s getting ridiculous. e1-5 dealt with the explosive split, e6-10 dealt with the aftermath, now it’s time for FA to move on.

  14. I just made software that would very easily scrape relevant contents of an issue (or the topic your site is focused on)
through the internet search engines to put together vast 100% copyscrape-passed contents.

Are you currently considering to research it?
