Glee Sneak Peek Video: Adam Lambert Talks Kurt-'Starchild' Dynamic and His Failed Audition

If at first you don’t succeed, finish second on American Idol, record and release an album that goes to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200, and then try again.

That was esentially the mantra Adam Lambert used to score himself a role on Glee — in his second attempt. Interestingly enough, in the following preview video, he says that his stint on the reality singing competition proved fertile training ground for climbing aboard Fox’s hit musical dramedy.

Lambert also makes a surprising observation about the debut of his new character, Elliott “Starchild” Gilbert, in this Thursday’s episode (9/8c). “When he’s first introduced in his first song, which is ‘Marry the Night’ by Lady Gaga, I think he’s trying way too hard and doing everything he can to make a good impression.”

Too many guest stars. Give the characters real storylines for once. And graduate the kids already too.

    • Brian says:

I believe that is what they are doing. However, if NYC, isn’t fleshed out with new characters, the show would get stale with just Rachel, Kurt, and Santana (and probably Blaine and Artie) in their apartment full time.

      • Derby says:

Yeah, a show like that, say, called “Friends” for example, yeah, you’re right, it would never last.

        • Friends was FULL of guest stars – every last one of the parents were well-known actors – Elliott Gould, Morgan Fairchild, Ron Liebman. Not to mention Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis. Sean Penn and George Clooney .Then the various recurring boyfriend stars like Tom Selleck and Paul Rudd. Long, long list of guest star went into keeping that show top-of-mind.
