  • So glad Les Revenants (The Returned) got picked up by Sundance. AMAZING show, it was huge here in Belgium and in France. Can’t wait for season 2, coming november 2014.

    • I agree. Easily the best show I have watched this year. Tons of credit for Sundance picking it up here in the US, and I can’t wait to buy the DVD in January.

    • No, but that one is also being adapted into a TV series called “Resurrection.”

      • Ah. Thanks for the info. I will look out for that show as well, then.

By the way, what is it with the spate of post-apocalyptic shows lately? When I first read about this show, I sort of flashed back to BBC America’s “In the Flesh” except those were more zombie-like folk who were then treated medically and returned to their families.

  • When is Parks and Rec coming back on? I miss it! Tonight it will be Greys, Scandal, DVR Sean Saves the World and Covert Affairs.
Ever since Camilla tweeted during the filming of the Halloween episode, this is the Greys episode I have been looking forward to the most. And I can’t wait to see Lisa Kudrow tonight on Scandal. The second most anticipated show of this season so far for me.

The Returned — Abso-freaking-lutely one of the best returned-from-the-dead shows I’ve seen.
If you’re thinking zombies, then this show isn’t for you. It’s a slow-burning, creep-you-out-from-the inside-of-your-brain kinda story. The horror of what’s happening sneaks up on you. It gets seriously creepy. I mean, what would you do if your child who died years ago suddenly shows up looking exactly like they did on the day they died, but remembering nothing…. thinking it’s the still that same day years ago. (There are both adults and children who come back.) It’s an interesting premise that changes slowly, creepily (and don’t be spanking me for saying this as these are spoilers, they’re all in the summary featured here and everywhere else.) Great psychological thriller (and is season 1).

  • It’s Halloween, gotta go with the scary. I’ll be finishing the last two episodes of AHS: Asylum followed by something a little lighter, either Top Chef or Always Sunny.

The Tivo will be catching The Returned, Reign, and Elementary. Big Bang Theory is repeats this week.

  • Les Revenants (The Returned) is one of this best series I have watched this year! It was on Channel 4 in the UK a couple of months ago and as long as you don’t mind subtitles you guys in America are in for a treat. Special mention to the amazingly atmospheric soundtrack by Mogwai. Really helps set the tone.
