Community Casts Arrested Boss Mitch Hurwitz

MitchKenCommunityWho knew that when Mitch Hurwitz cast Dan Harmon in Arrested Development‘s most recent run, the Community mastermind would someday return the favor?

TVLine has confirmed that the man who brought you the beloved Bluths will guest-star in a Season 5 installment of the quirky NBC comedy.

Described as both a ladies man and a guy’s guy, Hurwitz’s alter ego Preston Koogler is “Greendale Community College’s ultimate party animal” — and he butts heads with any authority figure who tries to stand between him and his good times. (Watch out, Dean Pelton!)

For the uninitiated: Harmon made a brief cameo in Arrested Development‘s latest season on Netflix, playing a desert-dwelling yurt clerk.

Community‘s long-shelved fifth season bows Thursday, Jan. 2, with back-to-back episodes starting at 8/7c.

Stoked by this bit of casting, or is Hurwitz making a huge mistake? (You: “I don’t understand the question and I won’t respond to it.“)

  • That sounds like fun. This is making wonder if there’s an Arrested Development/Community crossover thing anywhere like Arrested Westeros did with Game of Thrones. This is ripe for parody! This is ripe!

  • Still want to know the REAL reason that Donald Glover is bailing this year. Who is he really mad with on set? Is he really upset that Harmon is coming back? Maybe he’s the real thorn and not Chevy Chase. These are questions that need to be answered!
