What to Watch Wednesday: CSI and The Middle Mark Milestones, World Series Baseball and More
On TV this Wednesday: A fan favorite returns for CSI‘s 300th episode, The Middle‘s centennial is a Heck of a good time, Revolution finds a reluctant hero and the World Series steps up to the plate. 7:30 pm World Series (Fox) | The Fall Classic opens with the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
8 pm Revolution (NBC) | A mysterious stranger from Miles’ past, Texas Ranger John Fry (played by Jim Beaver, Supernatural), reemerges and might be able to help bring down the Patriots – if he can be convinced to do so. (Get scoop.)
8 pm The Middle (ABC) | Episode 100 coincides with the “Orsontennial” anniversary of the Hecks’ hometown. Festivities include: Frankie and Mike driving a giant cow float in the parade, Sue trying to make Darrin jealous and Brick entering a contest to come up with the town’s new motto.
9 pm Law & Order: SVU (NBC) | In the first of this week’s two Anthony Weiner riffs, accusations of sexual misconduct threaten to ruin a mayoral candidate’s campaign. (ABC’s Scandal offers its own take on the, er, scandal on Thursday.) Kirk Acevedo (Fringe), Annaleigh Ashford (Masters of Sex) and Leslie Odom Jr. (Smash) guest-star.
9 pm The Tomorrow People (The CW) | When Stephen wants to come to the aid of a classmate, John and Cara make it clear that they don’t help humans. Also: Someone’s dark backstory is revealed.
9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | Gloria hires a near-perfect male nanny (Adam DeVine, Workaholics), while Mitch and Cam recruit Pepper (returning guest-star Nathan Lane) as their wedding planner.
9:30 pm Super Fun Night (ABC) | Kimmie’s mom (Jacki Weaver, Silver Linings Playbook) chooses a luau theme for Jazmine’s engagement party… and invites Kimmie’s crush Richard… and everyone has to come in a swimsuit. (Gulp.) Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical) returns as Kimmie’s sis.
10 pm CSI (CBS) | In the crime drama’s 300th episode — which has the number “300″ hidden in scenes 14 times — Catherine (original cast member Marg Helgenberger!) is back to help solve a case that has haunted the CSI team for 14 years. (Get scoop.) Jason Priestley (Beverly Hills, 90210) and Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) guest-star.
10 pm American Horror Story: Coven (FX) | Madison has a fiery exchange with new neighbor Joan Ramsey (Patti LuPone, Life Goes On).
10 pm A Young Doctor’s Notebook (Ovation) | Season finale: The old and young versions of the doc battle about right and wrong, dreams and reality and past and future. (Yep, renewed.)
