Glee Sets Its End Date -- But What Do You Want for Its Characters' Endgames? Take Our Polls!

Mark your calendars, Gleeks: Fox’s high-school musical will graduate from the airwaves for good sometime around the spring of 2015 — at the end of Season 6, cocreator Ryan Murphy announced this week.

Whether or not news of Glee‘s end date warms your heart or sends you into the fetal position, it’s hard not to wonder how exactly the show’s writers will conclude their tale of William McKinley High School’s underdog show choir (and its all-star alumnae). Heck, Murphy himself is apparently in full brainstorm mode, having told reporters at a Paley Center event honoring FX Networks that he has “a good idea” about “how after Cory [Monteith]’s unfortunate passing, we can end the show” in a way that’s “very satisfactory.”

Anyhow, while the various Glee endgames are still up in the air, we figured we’d put the fates of 11 key characters up to a vote. So click through the following photos and take the polls that accompany each and every one of ‘em. And if you don’t like any of our proposed fates for a particular character, head directly to the comments and propose an idea of your own!

It is Santana that should win American Idol

  2. rob says:

Sue should become a spokesperson for Down syndrome… or she should found an institute under her sister’s name, where she would be the director and Becky would be her assistant forever!!!

I’d love to see Rachel get that Tony and a romance. Specifically Sam and Rachel!

  4. Ray says:

I would like to see Rachel begin a downward spiral due to the pressure of trying to make it on Broadway. She then turns to drugs, and become a junkie and falls deeper into the abyss. She ends up doing low budget porn to still realize her goal of being a “star”

I don’t really get these options because there is not a single option for any of the characters that is completely right. Most of the options exclude the possibility for professional and personal success. Some of the options for the characters were just totally messed up, and a tiny bit horribly cruel. I would say that all of the characters should be able to find their niche, what they are good at and what they love. I really don’t have much of a problem with the newer characters, but they didn’t do as well of a job at integrating them into the show that they did for previous characters that where not original cast members.

I also don’t understand why they didn’t mention so many of the characters. Before the show ends I would really like to at least get a glimpse into the old characters to see what is going on with them. The original cast had such great chemistry and we haven’t really gotten to see any of that since they graduated except with Rachel, Kurt, and Santana. I would really like to see more of the old cast as well as, hopefully much better written, better and more interactions with the new cast. I want a very satisfying ending showing that at the end of the show, in the future, everyone is doing well and is happy and successful in their own way.

This is incredibly weird because most of these people are way too intensely invested in the futures of these characters and are getting like really angry with people over fictional characters; ya I like this show a lot, but seriously people, take a chill pill.

  6. “Trouty Mouth”, Sam, could go to a community college, where he could major in music, studying guitar, piano and voice. While there, he could audition for their production of Pippin’, get cast in the lead role and fall in love with his co-star, who loves him back.

  7. An alternate story line could be that Mercedes enters a nationally televisiceed beauty pageant, on a dare from Santana. Part of the dare is that Mercedes sings an opera aria for her talent. She blows everyone away (especially Santana) with her sexy rendition of either the popular Habanera or the lesser known Seguidilla from the opera Carmen. (The Seguilla is higher than the Habanera and would show off Mercedes’ nimble soprano voice better.) As a result of the show, she’s offered the role of the mother in a Broadway revival of Shampoo. She would need to do it white-faced, and can’t get the image of John Travolta, in the role (not a pretty sight,) out of her head. She loves the idea of working in New York, because she could reconnect with old friends. She worries that she’ll be ruining efforts she’s made back home.

  8. I don’t think Ryan Murphy has ever seen Samuel Larson, who plays Joe on the series, as the awesome rock star that he is. Samuel joined the cast after winning the role on The Glee Project. Murphy saw Samuel as being the one who could play the Christian on the show, which he was happy about, because, in his mind, he’d already placed Cameron (Glee Project) in that role, but Cameron indicated he didn’t want to be on the show after all. When Ryan heard Samuel say something like, “I’m a Christian. I love Jesus and stuff. Look. I have his name on the back of my neck,”(as he lifted his long dreadlocks to reveal the letters J-e-s-u-s tattooed there,) he got excited at the possibility of plugging Samuel in there. Christians come in every type of package, and Samuel comes in a package with rough edges. Why not have him head a Christian rock band or even a secular rock band!? He’s a great performer! Let him do what he’s best at!

After the tragedy of Finn and Rachel, with Finn’s death a glee couple should be reunited that also struggled being together at times, aka Sam and Mercedes

  10. marie says:

I think kurt should focus on his career and become a designer of some type because rachel could crush him in broadway. Blaine and kurt can have the wedding of their lifes after blaine graduates and goes off to college where he becomes a doctor or broadway star like rachel because his voice is killer. They dont really have to show his wedding it can be just a flashback. Brittany should come back to visit as a graduate from mit and smarter! She should donate money to the glee club or something or even become the cheerios coach. Sam and Brittany make such a wonderful couple and they might have a shot or that nurse. Santana should marry dani when all that political stuff is over and become a popular movie star known for her talent and being hispanic. Mr schu and emma have like 2 or 3 kids and he gets a role in some great play while emma does the best job at being a guidance counselor or he can become the principal. Sue retires to take care of her baby though she comes back in and out of the school as if she still works there. And im tired of typing so yeah lol

  11. Hallie says:

My hope for the end is that we see Rachel become a teacher herself. I really want the last scene of glee to play out that Rachel takes for last bow on a stage, walks out, gets on a bus. Cut to scenes of Klaine and Brittana & other characters reading a letter, email, etc (as Lea’s voice reads it to the viewers). The bus stops in a small town (not Lima) and Rachel is seen walking the halls of a high school and as she enters a room the camera cuts to a group of misfit glee club then the camera cuts back to Rachel writing Ms. Hudson on the board (big broadway star has to change her name right) and having her say the line “This is going to be fun” (Cory’ said this after one of his first scenes for glee) and then a classic Rachel Berry wink. The end.

  12. Debra Taylor says:

Although Rachel is one of my favorite characters, she has developed a patronizing attitude towards her friends and lost a lot of the vulnerability she had with Finn. That makes sense because people do change, particularly during traumatic events, but I miss that aspect of her. I would love to see the Funny Girl revival fail to give her some perspective about her life and the choice she made to leave NYADA. Perhaps, after she has come down a few pegs and regained her humility, she could be presented with another stage opportunity that would turn out to be better than Funny Girl. Maybe the chance to work directly with Barbra Streisand?

  13. Tamika says:

Wait a minute! I think on the topic of Sam and Mercedes that the writers need to push their relationship more! A mixed race couple making it together needs to be addressed on the show, come on fans love Mercedes and Sam but why not together a little iffy iffy on that topic are we people? Their chemistry is amazing let these two go out with a bang together making it work and doing the deed of love. Why not? Are some viewers SCARED? I love it! I want to see love blossom on the show not to many couples on the show survived anyway! Let these two please. Folks all scared of the couple hitting it off. come on people you know I’m right. Well Hey again love the show.

  14. Jesse says:

A Brittany and Santana wedding or at the very very least just a really happy ending for them. After everything that’s happened all I want out of Glee is a happy ending for these two characters who’ve changed my life.
