Ditch Davey The Black BoxAussie actor Ditch Davey (Spartacus: War of the Damned) has been added to the cast The Black Box, ABC’s forthcoming limited series from L Word creator Ilene Chaiken and X-Men helmer Bryan Singer, TVLine has confirmed.

Additionally, David Ajala (Law & Order: UK) and Ali Wong (Are You There, Chelsea?) have joined the 13-episode drama, which centers on Elizabeth Black (Kelly Reilly), a world renowned neuroscientist who appears to have it all but is constantly haunted by her own struggle with mental illness.

Davey will play brilliant neurosurgeon Dr. Marc Bickman, while Ajala has landed the role of Will Van Renseller, a professional chef by trade and a caretaker by nature. Lastly, Wong will play Dr. Ina Lark.

Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave rounds out the ensemble as Dr. Hartramph, Elizabeth’s psychiatrist and the keeper of all of her secrets.

Feature scribe Amy Holden Jones (The Relic and Mystic Pizza) is penning the script.

  • Exactly what mental illness is the main character supposed to have. I mean being a neurosurgeon and all it would be criminally irresponsible if the illness prevented her from being able to function during a surgery

    • One of the Slaves in the rebellion. I think he was the one that was with Gannicus’ blonde girl before him. His name escapes me at the moment.

  • This series sounds like a bit of a mess. Nothing compelling about it. Hopefully the execution will be better than the description.

  • He protrayed Nemetes, a slave of german descent. He appeared in 9 episodes on the Spartacus Series. He really shined in his protrayal of nemetes in War of the Damned, before ultimately meeting his fate at the hands of Julius Ceaser.
