The Simpsons: Which Unlucky Character Will Take a Dirt Nap in Season 25?

Get More: Controversy, News

The-Simpsons-Death-Character-KilledOh my God, they’re killing…well, somebody.

Yes indeed, a regular character will pay the ultimate price on The Simpsons during the Fox comedy’s upcoming 25th season — the first since Maud Flanders unexpectedly reached her expiration date back in February 2000 — producers revealed in a conference call this week.

Who will be pushing up animated daisies?

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is,” executive producer Al Jean told Canada’s Sun News.

The show’s list of winners in the Outstanding Voice-Over Performance category include:

* Anne Hathaway as Princess Penelope (2010)
* Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson (2009)
* Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob (2006)
* Dan Castellaneta as “various characters” (2004)
* Hank Azaria as “various characters” (2003)
* Hank Azaria as “various characters” (2001)
* Hank Azaria as Apu (1998)
* Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson (1993)

Additionally, six separate actors took home the prize in 1992 — Nancy Cartwright (Bart); Jackie Mason (Rabbi Krustofsky); Julie Kavner (Marge, Patty, Selma and Marge’s Mother); Yeardley Smith (Lisa); Marcia Wallace (Mrs. Krabappel); and Dan Castellaneta (Homer and Grandpa Simpson).

That’s quite a few favorites to include in your death pool, Simpsons fans.

So what do you think? Any guesses as to which Springfield resident will be waltzing with the Grim Reaper? Any great ideas for how said character should be erased? Sound off in the comments!

  • No point of killing sideshow bob because he rarely appears they could just have him stay in jail without making a episode about him.

  • maggie should actually kill mr burns. if she killed sideshow bob it would still be cool. maggie should defineatly kill someone though because she has a gun in a lot of episodes and is usually shown as being the most violent simpsons.

  • I think it will be Mrs. Krabappel, first because Flanders can’t hold a girl, second because Marcia Wallace is 70 years old, and sounds it too. Edna no longer has that cynical edge to her voice, all I hear is a raspy old lady voice.

  • With the passing of voice actress Marcia Wallace, it’s all but official that Edna Krabapell will die off as well.

  • I think either mrs. krabappal or the crazy cat lady will be leaving this world, or even agnes skinner or grampa. I have no idea, that’s why I want to see a preview.

  • They specifically said that the death of the actress would not coincide with the killing off of the aforementioned character, although they did say that the character will also get retired.

  • Well I think it could be Mrs. Krabappe just because I saw about the voice actress dying, and it mentioned “retiring” her character because of it. But that would mean Ned gets widowe(r)ed again.

  • This is the trend that Grey’s anatomy started, lower viewers, kill characters! the Simpsons should have an episode like the “plane” in grey’s anatomy, but instead of the characters. writers & Al Jean should be on it XD

  • Of course it will be Ms. Krabappel because Marcia Wallace died in real life and they said they were going to write her out of the show. Maybe that’s too obvious though.

  • Patty or Selma should be long dead from Emphysema; Burns, Abe, Moleman, Agnes or Jasper could go from old age, Comic Book Guy is a walking heart attack (again/still)…any of these would be logical. But, in a huge twist…I pick Lisa.
