NCIS Planning New Orleans-Based Spin-Off, Exec-Produced By Mark Harmon

NCIS New Orleans SpinoffNCIS has big plans for the Big Easy.

TV’s most watched drama is preparing an off-shoot that will be set in New Orleans and introduced via a planted pilot to air in spring 2014.

Per our sister site Deadline, NCIS: N’Awlins (as I and perhaps only I shall dub it) will be executive-produced by NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg and series star Mark Harmon.

The NCIS New Orleans office apparently handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. But I’m not so good with geography, so don’t quote me.

The news comes less than a year after CBS announced its plan for an NCIS: Los Angeles spin-off, NCIS: Red, which aired last spring as a planted pilot (starring Kim Raver and John Corbett) but failed to land a spot on the 2013-14 schedule.

Fun fact: CSI: NY was originally to be set in New Orleans, and as revealed after Melina Kanakaredes left that CBS procedural, that is where Stella Bonasera now works.

I love NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles, so I couldn’t wait to see the new NCIS New Orleans, but being a native of New Orleans it kills me to hear the FAKE ACCENT, please, please drop it. We don’t really talk like that DARLIN. Some characters sound natural, but main character and some others need to shake it, I would love to see this show make it. The lady agent sounds more like us.
