Horror Story: Coven First Look: Beware -- New Posters Might Leave You Feeling Prickly

The squirming is about to start early for fans of American Horror Story: Coven.

FX unveiled new promo art (and a related YouTube video) this afternoon for the latest incarnation of Ryan Murphy’s scaretacular, and we’ve got your first look below.

AHS: Coven, which stars Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson and Gabourey Sidibe, will explore “themes of race and oppression and family — especially mothers and daughters — along with laughs and scares and a few tears,” exec producer Tim Minear teased at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour last month.

American Horror Story: Coven premieres October 9 at 10/9c on FX.

    So far, this season looks to be plenty paranormal, but less straight-up horrific than the first two, which is fine by me. I like that they’re mixing it up every time.

    Clear reference to voodoo here – very intrigued to see how this season’s arc plays out.

    Not only voodoo, but in one of the previous ads where they showed a black woman scuttling toward the camera they may have been referencing the horrors Madame LaLaurie, played by Kathy Bates, on her slaves.
