Starz's Outlander Adaptation Casts Its Claire
We now have a Claire Randall for Outlander, the Starz original series being adapted by Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald D. Moore from Diana Gabaldon’s series of international bestsellers.
Irish actress Caitriona Balfe has landed the female lead, playing a married combat nurse from 1945 who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, where she is immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened.
When Claire is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (played by Sam Heughan), a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that tears Claire’s heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Balfe’s credits include the web series H+, the six-part film The Beauty Inside and a role in the 2013 thriller Now You See Me.
