When Live+7 numbers are factored in, FX estimates that the episode will likely rank as the most-watched single program in the network’s history.

Compared to SOA‘s then-record-setting Season 5 debut, which drew 5.37 million viewers and 3.51 in 18-49, Tuesday’s kickoff was up 9 percent and 13 percent, respectively. (Those Season 5 tallies eventually soared to 7.15 million/4.80 million in Live+7.)

  • Not that I didn’t expect the premiere to do really well but I have to wonder how many new viewers tuned in to check out Charlie Hunnam since he’s been cast in 50 Shades. I saw quite a few comments on the SOA FB page last night that were from people that had never watched before.

    • I agree. I knew some people that just tuned in because of Fifty Shades.

      • He promised to have dinner with some fans if any of the demos went up. All the details on his blog and he mentioned it in his web show WTFSutter.

  • Great episode! What always amazes me about the writing is there is never a dull moment. No down time. It’s just one problem to deal with after another. Fast paced is an understatement. There’s deal making, fires to put out, damsels in distress to save, double crosses, and a pound of flesh to take. Amazing show. Reminded me why this is the BEST show on TV!
