Ratings: Even as NFL Kickoff Dominates, Big Brother Surges, Rookie Blue Ticks Up

CBS’ Big Brother, with its Thursday-night double eviction, drew 7.1 million total viewers and a 2.4 demo rating, surging some 33 percent week-to-week. Those numbers mark the show’s second-largest Thursday audience and best demo delivery since Aug. 8.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football Thursday kick-off meanwhile dominated the night, averaging 25 million total viewers and a 10.0 demo rating based on very preliminary/almost-reckless-to-mention/Matt-should-update-later data for a live sporting event.

Over on ABC, Wipeout returned to 3.5 mil/1.1, up 38 percent in the demo versus Motive‘s finale, while Rookie Blue‘s penultimate Season 4 episode (4.2 mil/1.0) ticked up a tenth in the demo. To date, Rookie Blue is enjoying its most watched season in three years.

Among non-sports programming, a Big Bang Theory rerun commanded the largest audience — 7.3 million.
