“He’s an arts and culture writer and a bit of a snob — he kind of looks down on Mindy’s taste,” explains exec producer Jack Burditt of Feldman’s character. “There’s an attraction there, but also a divide between them. She’ll say things, and she has no idea what he’s talking about. [We'll see] how these two people who are very different can get along. “

For those keeping score at home, Feldman’s casting brings to three the number of potential boyfriends being introduced for Kaling’s Dr. Lahiri in Season 2. He joins fellow suitors Timothy Olyphant (Justified) and Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

  • I like the show, I really do, but is it seriously just going to end up be a parade of hot white dude after hot white dude for Mindy to date? It’s starting to seem that way…

    • Yeah, seriously. And, yes, I would say the same thing if New Girl’s Jess only dated Indian men. And, it’s not even that they are all white, it’s that there’s not continuity or story arc, like there is on New Girl. Jess has dated a few guys since the show started, but they were all important in her progression. There weren’t like 5 boyfriends cast before the season even started.

  • Love him! But please don’t make this another show that drags out the will they-won’t they thing/has a love triangle. Just get Mindy and Danny together and go from there!

    • Ditto with the disagreers. They haven’t explored everything they can with the friendship or the sexual tension. More importantly, Mindy Lahiri isn’t ready yet. She doesn’t think she deserves to be loved really so when someone loves her, she thinks she needs to make that work. She’s more appreciative of Casey’s feelings for her than in love with him. Danny’s into the real Mindy, but if she doesn’t get why the real Mindy is worth being with, they can’t go there yet.

  • Great casting! I haven’t even seen them together yet but can already feel the chemistry between them bouncing off my screen. Love them both!

  • Oh good, this show needed another 30-something white guy. Cheers for the diversity, Mindy.

    • It’s obviously not racism and I’m sure she’ll get around to it. Maybe she wrote the part for a pre-existing relationship with a friend. They don’t need to cast by race to make you or anyone else happy. She made it clear in S1 that she’s been attracted to and hit on by black men as well. That’s why she was trying to go to the VIP section and meet the black NBA players there. She’s a woman of color as she’s said and is probably going to regularly be dating outside her race. People are mad she’s not dating a non-white person? It’s already a mixed race situation.

  • Ok, love this show and it is still going to be great but what happened to what they said about Mindy being single for most of this year, it seems like every day i’m on tvline (the only place to get tv news) I see another announcement that a new guy is either guest starring or recurring and that he will be a love interest for Mindy.

    • You can be single and go on a date or single and have guys flirting with you but not asking you out. She’s not gonna have a boyfriend per se for most of the year I guess. They do such a great job casting her dates. Plus, it usually gives us some stealth Mindy/Danny by his reaction to the situation.

  • I love Ben Feldman. I would see him in anything and I wouldn’t kick him out of bed for eating crackers. I’d write more but this interface keeps eating my tributes to Ben Feldman.
