Fall TV First Look: The Millers' Will Arnett Deals With 'Separation' Anxiety

Will Arnett is experiencing much “separation” anxiety on the new CBS sitcom The Millers – but he might wanna think twice about evoking the stink-eye of TV’s erstwhile Mags Bennett!

In a new promo, Arnett’s alter ego, Nathan Miller, relates his unfortunate situation, as a recent divorcé now rooming with his newly separated mother Carol (played by Justified Emmy winner Margo Martindale). When his TV dad, Beau Bridges, makes a crack about “serving time” alongside Carol, Nate’s reaction doesn’t sit well with Mom.

The Millers – which premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8:30/7:30c – also stars Jayma Mays (Glee) and Nelson Franklin (New Girl), as Arnett’s TV sis and bro-in-law, while J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) plays Nate’s best bud and Eliza Coupe (Happy Endings) will recur as his ex-wife.

  • This show would be great without Margo Martindale. I think she’s a good actor, but I saw this pilot, and she was really over the top.

    • I hope she ends up going, not because I don’t love Margo Martindale and want her working–I want her back on The Americans where she belongs. I have no intention of watching The Millers.

  • Matt, totally off-topic, but whatever happened to Michael Slezak’s always entertaining recap of So You Think You Can Dance from this past Tuesday? Is he on vacation?

    • In his recap of Mistressss on Monday Slezak said he was out of the country on vacation.

  • The Millers should join the likes of Dads, We Are Men, Back in the Game, Super Fun Night and a few others as one of the worst new sitcoms of the Fall TV season and Will Arnett can’t catch a break or is he? :-(

    • We Are Men is pretty good and Back in the Game is ABC’s best new comedy. Dads is slightly better than everyone is saying and Super Fun Night is easily the worst new show of the year.

  • This is a bad year for comedy.

  • Why does this seemingly terrible show star so many fantastic actors?

    • I was thinking the same thing. There’s a lot of great comedic talent there, but it just seem so pedantic and common. Comedy doesn’t need to be overly original but it shouldn’t be incredibly unoriginal.

  • Not even this cast can make a show like this work.

  • I predict historically bad ratings for this show. It’s such a shame for Margo, she’s fantastic.

  • What a shame – this teaser trailer is funnier than anything in the pilot!

  • Pretty much the entire cast of this show deserves better.

  • Don’t drink the apple pie, Will. It would be unwise.
