What to Watch Friday: Phineas and Ferb Have a Marvel-ous Day, Strike Back Slips Up and More

WHIPLASH, M.O.D.O.K., RED SKULL, DR. DOOFENSHMIRTZ, VENOMOn TV this Friday: Strike Back loses its man, Phineas and Ferb make some super new pals, Continuum tries to crack Liber8′s code, and prepare for major meltdowns: It’s time for America’s Next Top Model‘s annual makeover episode. Here are seven programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel (Disney Channel) | This 55-minute crossover episode finds the boys and Marvel super heroes defeating super villains and Dr. Doofenshmirtz. (A sneak peek of the channel’s new intergalactic, animated series Wonder Over Yonder airs at 9 pm.)

8:30 pm The Neighbors (ABC) | Repeat to Revisit: Confession time — Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s Real Housewives-esque table flipping scene was what changed my mind about this comedy, which I’d initially loathed. If you, too, wrote it off at first, maybe give it another shot tonight? (Get Season 2 scoop.)

9 pm America’s Next Top Model (The CW) | Not sure how close I’d get to Tyra’s rumored boytoy Rob Evans in a “risqué” photo shoot – Miss T looks like she needs little provocation to beat the ever-loving smize outta you – but the contestants put on their sexy faces for a session with Evans and Alessandra Ambrossio, anyway. Also: makeovers!

9 pm Ghost Adventures (Travel) | Season 8 premiere: Zak, Nick and Aaron travel to the former mining town of Goodsprings, Nev., where whiskey isn’t the only kind of spirit floating around the Pioneer Saloon.

10 pm Strike Back (Cinemax) | Scott, Stonebridge and the team lose Kamali, who escapes to Bogota; Dalton meets her new boss, a legendary agent named Philip Locke (played by Robson Green, ITV’s Wire in the Blood).

10 pm Continuum (Syfy) | Kiera and Carlos believe Liber8 is waging cyber war on the city, and they struggle to stop the attacks.

10 pm Comedy Bang! Bang! (IFC) | Community‘s Gillian Jacobs, Parks and Recreation‘s Adam Scott, Talking Dead‘s Chris Hardwick and SNL alum Michaela Watkins engage in some tomfoolery with Scott and Reggie.

  • Venom, really? Isn’t he a little intense for a cartoon like that? He’s going to be severely tamed. He won’t be eating anyone’s entrails, that’s for sure!

    • There already is a tame version of Venom. They did it for the Spiderman series in the ’90s. Now if they had gone with Carnage instead, that would be too intense!

      • Heh, true. When kids see this and they want to know more about who Venom is, THAT’S when it’ll get fun. They’ll use Wikipedia to research the character, read up on him, etc.

  • It saddens me that Disney has bought Marvel studios and now incorporating some of the most iconic heroes and villians into Disney crapfest like phineas and ferb. Next it will be hidden mickeys in star wars.

    • “Next it will be hidden mickeys in star wars.” Good one! Of course, the Star Wars series already had a Disney-esque character in Jar-Jar Binks, and look how well that turned out! ;-)

      • I liked Jar-Jar Binks. Just stop picking on him already!

    • Spoken like someone who has not yet experienced the true genius of Phineas and Ferb for themselves. Trust me, it’s one of the two most brilliant and clever shows Disney Channel has ever made, alongside Gravity Falls.

      • Also love Phineas & Ferb – Doofenschmirtz Evil Incorporated – you’ve gotta sing that phrase!

Plus Jar Jar was the worst part of episode I (at that’s really saying something!)

I have to admit that I started watching Phineas & Ferb with my nephews but find myself watching it without them on occasion :-)

    • Everyone hates Phineas and Ferb. It’s the Taylor Swift of animation.

  • What does MODOK mean in this toon? The K won’t stand for Killing anymore.

    • Hmm.. “MODOC (acronym for Mental Organism Designed Only for Computing)” Maybe they’ll restore the original acronym.

  • I was convinced that The Neighbors would be total crap but then a friend convinced me to watch it. I saw the Halloween episode and have been a fan ever since. I’ll be watching that and Continuum tonight.

  • Strike Back! Love that show, and im very happy the Mosad woman is back! After i finished last season i thought “they should try and bring her back somehow”. For real, not just saying that after the fact. She was fantastic and the chemistry and story line between Scott and her was great. I wanted either her to come back or for Scott to meet up again with the tribal woman who was in the middle eastern nomad village.
