Parks and Recreation June Diane RaphaelParks and Recreation has assembled the final piece of its forthcoming “bizarro” Pawnee plot, and we approve.

TVLine has learned exclusively that comedy vet June Diane Raphael (NTSF:SD:SUV::, New Girl) has signed on to play the Eagleton counterpart of Aubrey Plaza’s apathetic April.

“She’s April’s doppelgänger,” confirms exec producer Mike Schur, who describes Raphael’s character as “kind of a rich, boozy, Real Housewives-type.”

As Schur previously explained to TVLine, the Eagleton-Pawnee plot, which will take place over several episodes, finds the rival towns embarking on “a joint venture” which will allow viewers to finally meet the Pawnee crew’s equivalents. ”If you were in the Eagleton Parks Department, what would it look like? We wanted to show that world.”

Raphael joins fellow bizarros Kristen Bell (as Leslie’s counterpart), Sam Elliott (as Ron’s “twin”) and Bill Eichner (as Donna’s double).

Tom’s copy, meanwhile, is being kept under wraps. “Tom’s doppelgänger is a spoiler,” Schur teased. “It’s not who the actor is — it’s the concept behind it.”

Parks and Recreation kicks off Season 6 on Thursday, Sept. 26.

  • Yay! Shes hilarious on NTSF SD SUV and burning love. Can’t wait to see her interact with the parks and rec cast. This is just icing on the cake to the news that she’ll be doing a show with Casey Wilson

  • There should be a joke where eagleton says something like “We had a jerry gergich but he fell down a hole and we haven’t seen him since.”

  • The biggest joke was if they had a Jerry and he was super productive and integral to everything that gets done.

    • That would be funny. And if it was played by the same actor. And was the character’s twin or cousin.

  • Awesome casting news. Love her. So, do the non-Parks employees, i.e. Ben, Ann, Chris, Andy, and now Jerry, not have doppelgangers? Seems like they exist only for characters who work in the Parks department, but would have been fun if they did this for everyone in the main cast.

  • She is painfully unfunny. Would have loved someone like Brittany Snow or Anna Camp to play the doppelgänger.

  • I bet Ron’s doppelgänger will be related to him (a long-lost brother or something), and have the same personality as him
