The Community Cast Reacts to Recent Headlines — Which News Made Jim Rash Get Up to Leave?

Get More: Comic-Con, Interviews, Video

There were many, many headlines for the Community cast to react to when a quorum visited TVLine’s Comic-Con suite.

VIDEO | Community Creator Dan Harmon Talks Donald Glover’s ‘Devastating’ Exit, the Return of Jeff, New Characters and… an Animated Episode!

After squeeing over the (surprising!) Season 5 pick-up and Dan Harmon’s (surprising!) return as showrunner, Michael Ausiello briefed Yvette Nicole Brown, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, Danny Pudi and Alison Brie on brand-new scoop dropped earlier by Harmon himself — including the NBC comedy’s first stab at a 100-percent animated episode, his plans Jeff/Annie romance and a possible *i**s**r-themed outing.

But the big topic, of course, was Donald Glover‘s imminent exit from the series, after Season 5′s fifth episode. Rash, for one, sought a silver lining in “the possibilities of what this means for Abed,” while Pudi noted the best buds’ separation was “sort of inevitable.”

Also in this video Q&A: A fervid debate over whether Community will run 100 episodes or, like, 97.

  • I’m sure they’ve already filmed the episodes so it doesn’t matter now but IMO, If Glover was only appearing in 5 of the 13 episodes then they should have put him in Episodes 1, 4, 7, 10, and 13 instead of the first 5 and then having the characters explain his absence for the rest of the Season.

    • And sometimes something as simple as that doesn’t work. They have themed episodes too that revolve around the time of the year. He’s not going to be around for all of that. Of course this past season, it didn’t matter the time of the year since it was held, but still…meh.

    • They haven’t shot anything yet. Harmon said so. If Glover can only appear in the first 5 episodes, that’s probably because he has another project he’s shooting after that, so spreading out his appearances is likely impossible.

  • Excellent chemistry with the Community cast, Mr. Ausiello! I hope a cameo can happen before we run out of episodes!

  • Woah @ when Jim vetoed Joel’s shout out, Yvette looked called him out. It could have been playing, but she looked pretty serious.

  • They are so adorable, its sickening. Unrelated: I think I’m developing a crush on Jim Rash to match my crush on Danny Pudi. Dem green pants.

  • Let the naysaysers quick to dismiss Harmon as a hated unprofessional monster listen to the pure joy the cast expressed upon the mention of his return. They’re family. Most can only hope to develop a professional work relationship into such rare, pure affection like that.

    • Just because someone is a hated, unprofessional monster does not mean they aren’t talented. Lots of really talented people are not nice or professional. Of course the case is excited to have him back. He represents their best chance of making it beyond this season. Which they want because of the enormous, F-U money that would represent. I don’t blame them. But Harmon probably is a jerk. Doesn’t mean he isn’t great at his job.

  • 1) They seem happy to not talk about Chevy at all.
    2) Dani and Alison need to get married. I know he’s married, but just look at them. She’s all over him.
