Glee Season 5 Production and Premiere Date Delayed in Wake of Cory Monteith's Death

Glee Delays Premiere DateIn light of the recent death of series regular Cory Monteith, Glees fifth season has been pushed back a week, from Sept. 19 to Sept. 26.

This reflects a decision by Fox and 20th Century Fox Television to delay the start of production until early August.

The musical dramedy’s Season 5 premiere will now air at 9/8c on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The 31-year-old Monteith passed away July 13 in Vancouver from what an autopsy determined was “a mixed drug toxicity that involved heroin, primarily, and also alcohol.”

  • FOX met with the cast & crew of GLEE last week. That has been documented. They all decded to start filming Aug 12th and that the season will start airing Sept 26th. So For those bad mouthing FIX know your FACTS FIRST

  • People, enough with the “only 1 week!?” broken record.Yes, Cory will be missed by fans and everyone on the cast and crew. But what’s the difference between a week and say 2 or 3 weeks? Time to grieve? So you think the cast and crew are going to spend those 2 weeks sobbing on their sofas or something? They’ll pay their respects on the show.

  • To all of you trashing their decision, they actually get almost a month plus none of you knew him personally so you don’t get to make any decision on how the people who ACTUALLY knew him react! So shut up and let them grieve in their own way.
