Two and a Half Men Exclusive: Angus T. Jones Cut From Season 11 Opening Credits

two and a half men opening season 11Two and a Half Men‘s main title sequence is undergoing an extreme makeover ahead of Season 11 to excise one key element: Titular Half Man Angus T. Jones.

TVLine has learned exclusively that CBS’ venerable comedy will be shooting a new opening with leading men Ashton Kutcher and Jon Cryer but not Jones, who, as TVLine first reported last spring, will not be returning as a series regular.

In fact, it remains unclear if Jones will appear in Season 11 at all. Although Men producers hope the actor — who came under fire last fall for biting the hand that has fed him for the past decade — will be back as an occasional guest star, there is no deal currently in place for him to do so. (Jones’ college schedule is an added complication.)

Another unanswered question: Whether the new, not-yet-cast female role of Charlie’s long-lost lesbian daughter will be featured in the retooled opening.

  1. Louise says:

Why not just make a whole new show?
I mean will it still be called “Two and a Half men”?

  2. aa says:

99% sure Charlie’s daughter will be considered the “half man,” because she’s a lesbian, which is a very strange combination of misogyny and homophobia.

    • TV Gord says:

You can’t make accusations against them based on an assumption.

      • aa says:

I’m not accusing them of anything, I’m making a prediction.

        • TV Gord says:

Of course you are! You say you’re 99% sure that they are mysogynists and homophobes. You’re only making it worse for youself by calling it a prediction instead of what it is: an assumption. This is just a sleazy thing to write.

          • Anon says:

Have you watched this show before? While I don’t feel they are homophobic, if you don’t think that the show is misogynistic then you and I have different definitions of misogyny.

          • TV Gord says:

We’re not talking about the show. We’re talking about aa’s comment.

          • Tyra Winchester says:

Good grief…relax. This is just a TV show and not a very good one at that.

          • TV Gord says:

Again, Tyra, we’re not talking about the show here. We’re talking about the comment. Try to keep up.

          • tiredofgayshows says:

lousie is probably right though. ‘the half man’ will be hte lesbian character. or are lesbians going to be offended because they are only being referred to as ‘half a man’ when they feel they are ALL MAN?

this show should have called it a day when Charlie was fired (or left). it hasn’t been the same since, and there is nothing wrong with a show going out on top. THIS ONE is going to limp along (like Rosanne) because producers want to milk all they can out of it, and the result will be a show that just isn’t funny anymore.

      • Josh says:

Well it is a pretty safe assumption…

    • Nick C says:

implying it wasn’t already misogynistic? ..
      not that I mind.

    • DL says:

I’m not a fan of the show, but I don’t quite get this argument. They can’t really change the title because of branding purposes. I don’t know if CBS would let them, even if they wanted to. It isn’t fair to declare that they consider a lesbian a “half man” [insert Tyrion Lannister joke] just because they don’t change the title.
Besides, it isn’t like Jones’ character has been killed off. In theory, he can still be considered the half a man. And based on the actor’s recent behavior, I’m not sure he qualifies for “full man” status yet. ;)

      • april-ann says:

“Branding purposes”? Explain, please. Because they can change the title to whatever they want. And everyone knows it. “CBS wouldn’t let them”? Really? They are presenting to that network one of their top rated shows. Valerie, Valerie’s Family, Hogan Family, I’m sure there’s more but I just don’t have the energy to try to remember them right now. Lorre wouldn’t want to change it because then he’d have to let go of his revenge blankie.

        • Nick C says:

          yes yes..
let the hate flow through you…

          feel better now?

          • april-ann says:

From that you get “hate flow through you…”? That’s sweet of you to be concerned about me and I’m flattered but, if you get “hate” from that then um, you need to get out more and also try to be more well read.

        • TV Gord says:

Yes, Valerie really had to worry about branding, ratings bonanza that it was! And what about those DVDs for AfterM*A*S*H and Archie Bunker’s Place? They must have been popular, because when I went to the store to get them, they never seemed to be in stock! ;-\

        • tiredofgayshows says:

          weren’t those NBC shows?

    • Joe Fiore says:

The show is called ‘Two and a Half Men’. Ashton Kutcher is a MAN. Jon Cryer is a MAN. By definition the lesbian has to be the titled ‘1/2 man’. It’s no ‘assumption’. It’s a fact based on the title. And it’s pretty damned offensive, I think.

Unless the title is changed to ‘Two Men and a Woman’ (which I doubt it will be), the Lesbian is the 1/2 man.

I for one don’t like it.

  3. Eve says:

Jeez I guess the lesson here is dont cross Chuck Lore….

  4. This show is still on the air?

  5. Ezzy says:

They should change the name of the show. Just doesn’t have the same meaning anymore.

    • april-ann says:

Exactly. I believe the reason for that is Lorre. At this point, since it’s still even on, it should probably just be called “Walden and Alan” or something equally generic. But Lorre seems to be clinging hopelessly onto it, not willing to let it go for fear he’d be expected to quit taking all the unprofessional, immature, cheap shots he’s taken at Charlie ever since Charlie was let go.

      • DL says:

Though “Charlie was let go” is a rather mild way of putting it.

        • april-ann says:

Lol, I can’t argue with you there. But I will say that it has been a few years now and Lorre has not let up, inserting his cheap digs wherever he can, and it’s long overdue for Lorre to grow up already and stop.

    • Tyra Winchester says:

They should cancel the show. I don’t know how it made it this long.

  6. BubbaBytor says:

Meh…he was the weakest link anyway…bye bye! Bring in Miley Cyrus…she was a hoot!

  7. Two words: FINAL SEASON

    • TV Gord says:

…which people have been saying going on three seasons now. Face it, the show is surviving without Sheen. People are still watching.

  8. nobody special says:

so now it’ll just be “Two Half Men?”

  9. dddddddddd says:

    Good. Dumb, ungrateful kid.

  10. unclelawwy says:

There is absolutely NOTHING venerable about this POS>

    • TV Gord says:

It’s heading into its 11th season, so there’s something venerable about it.

      • Bob G says:

I still like the show..think about this>..Hmmm..where is Rose..?/..could she pop up again?..and what about Waldens ex-wife and girlfriend.??….soooo many new scenes could happen with such an open situation all over the board………Rock on with this……..!!!!!

  11. Jared says:

Angus ruined any chance of staying on 2.5 Men. Hopefully producers just cut his role and move in another direction entirely.

  12. asta says:

wait, this putz is in college? Where are his parents who no doubt are pissed their meal train is gonzo.

  13. Steve says:

Lets hope they dont refer to the lesbian girl as a half man. T his show is often so crude in its jokes , lets hope we dont get more gay stereotypes although I think we will. This show is so crass and unfunny ;it says alot about the typical American tv viewer

  14. CBWBDK1 says:

    Just cancel this garbage!

  15. Kresh says:

wow why are people so obsest with the name of the show? big bang theory is the name of the show and nobody is talking about that, please stfu it’s just a name, it’s seriously getting annoying ^^

  16. Bella says:

The good and bad is that we can instantly respond to anything with our opinions (informed or not) and endlessly argue about everything, no matter how trivial it may seem to anyone (and even ourselves in the next hour).

  17. Larc says:

Angus hardly qualifies as the half man anyway. He’ll be 20 in October. They need to find another kid.

    • JEst says:

Technically the mentality of the character still made the 1/2 man part fitting.

    • Cameron Buchan says:

No they don’t he’s really good. And besides that’s what the mean by half men because jones is not a fully grown man yet

  18. P4Principle says:

Long lost lesbian daughter??? Are they serious? I knew Angus as a boy and worked with him on a few theatrical projects. He’s a good kid and smart. I have only the utmost respect for him. And he’s right. The story line does sound ridiculous. Time to retire the show.

  19. J V Smith says:

Angus is going to college and even if it hurt to be cut from this show, he said what he felt at the time. The show is sleazy and trashy, although very funny at times too. Let us assume all parties are happy and move on.

  20. Paula says:

Come on, this is news…? It was already announced that Angus T Jones was dropped from the cast, so why would he still appear in the opening credits? I assumed this was going to be the case all along.

  21. Walter says:

It’s clear Jones couldn’t have cared less whether he came back or not. Maybe even he’s realized this show is now on autopilot and it’s time to move on to something (anything) else.

  22. Midori says:

Why not make hte new character a cross dresser or a transexual? It’s all just so incredibly stupid anyways.

  23. Linda Jackson says:

I find it amazing the show has survived this long. I stopped watching it long ago. It was different and kind of funny in the early episodes but quickly became lame and boring as the kid aged and his mouth was objectionable and no longer “cute’, Put it bed-no great loss.

  24. Laura says:

The show was best with Charlie Sheehan, I dont watch the new one, it’s not good, sorry jmo

  25. Don says:

Lets admit it. The show sucks! The ones that made the show are gone, not just Charlie, but Rose ,Evelyn & Judith. Jake grew out of his cute stage when he hit puberty years ago stop giving him those stupid lines its not funny anymore. I really thought the one episode of Allan thinking he was Charlie would have been a great way continue the show with that story. This way all the regulars could have stayed. I don’t like how Allan is portrayed now , I used to feel sorry for him now I pity him for being annoying . Not a fan any longer and won’t be unless they make some changes. Another good show ruined

    • TV Gord says:

Rose, Evelyn and Judith have all been on the show this past season.

    • Cheryl says:

Yout are correct, they have truly made Alan into a caricature of himself. I still watch the show but don’t race home to see it the way I did with Charlie in it. More than happy to have Angus gone as his dissatisfaction dragged the showdown. My choice for a name, Two and a Half—–
      I miss Candy!!!!!

  26. Susan Denisi says:

Charlie and the housekeeper is what made the show worth watching. You could always know you were going to have a good laugh watching this program. I find the show boring and I don’t watch it anymore. It surely isn’t the same without Charlie.

  27. Andrea says:

El que fue mitad hombre también lo ha llamado.

  28. Cowcharge says:

Charlie’s gone, Alan’s completely unlikable now, Walden’s boring, Jake grew up and looks like an axe murderer now (as happens with all child actors who are cast because they’re “so ugly they’re cute”, like Corey Feldman), and April Bowlby’s not on it any more. The only reason I watch it at all is because it’s on right after BBT.

  29. mrie-pier says:

ou sinon il peuvent mettre le neveu de walden si il nen na un ou allan peut avoir un nautre enfant fille

  30. marie-pier says:

or he can put the nephew Walden if he does not have one or up
Allan have Other children may have a girl

  37. Kimberly says:

Was glad to see Angus stand up for his beliefs. The show quit being funny long before Charlie Sheen left. When the half man really was a half man it was good but at some point they should have addressed his growing up and retooled the show then. Now it’s just stupid.

  38. Paladin says:

Angus T. Jones is a stupid, ungrateful, snot-nosed, brat who has absolutely no concept whatsoever of what it means to be a productive member of society. What “education” he got while on “Two and a Half men” obviously didn’t teach him a %#@& thing about work ethic or how to treat other people. He will probably end up being swindled out of his millions by his “church”, and, like so many other child actors, find himself a washed up nobody people will refer to as that geek who looks like that kid who was on TV. Welcome to the real world !!

  39. Marky says:

Is Jones going to return all the money he got for being in this “filthy show”? Or will he give it all to charity?

  40. Angus gave more to established charities when he was an ignorant teen on the show, than he does now.

  41. Louise says:

Hmmm,,, we never saw the new credit sequence here in the UK. They kept the same one as featured in the article above here.
